It is the"MEG" model and comes with it's original ... morecase. Nice long leads, original instructions hang-tag, and a number of"Insulation Resistance Test Record" cards. Megger is in very good physical condition. Bakelite housing is very lustrous and is free of any damage(no chips. No cracks, not even any objectionable scratches) Clearly it's spent most of it's life in it's case. It does have some inventory control stickers and such on it. Leads are long(at least ten feet- I didn't measure) with good insulation. It cranks smoothly and works properly. It should be calibrated before use. I'm sure it's no longer accurate and at rest meter does not go quite back to infinity. It's not broken, there's an adjustment inside the case for setting it(just like any other analog mechanical meter) and this is part of the calibration procedure. Case is also in very good condition with nice leather strap. Because of weight I'm asking buyer to pay actual shipping costs. I offer an unconditional money-back guarantee. This is a James G. Biddle Co"Megger" megohmmeter insulation tester. Estimated to be from the early 1980s, in working condition but without recent calibration. The tag on the back states that it is catalog#70147. But investigating the website(biddlemegger.com) I have determined that it appears to be the same as#21805 and a n owners manual is there to download. A hand cranked magneto supplies 500 volts through the leads and the readout is scaled from 0- 500 ohms(o hms side) and 0- infinity(megohms side) With a switch to set the reading. Leads and case are included. But the leather case is in rough shape, needed a re-stitch and general TLC. The leads are about 5 feet long an d in good condition. And the instrument its elf is clean. It is missing the small cover plate for the ohms/megohms switch but the info is hand written on the meter. ... moreOther than that. No markings or engravings. I used th is for several years while surveying yachts and doing marine electrical consulting work. Great for determining if there is insulation damage to hidden wiring. AEMC Megohmmeter Model 1250N 250-500-1000 Volt Megger Analog Hand Crank Tester
This is an AEMC model 1250 hand cranker. Many scratches on the unit but works great. I tested each voltage range(250V. 500V, 1kV) with a volt meter connected while cranking the tester and got each setting almost exactly to the volt. Then shorted the leads on each setting and the meter deflected all the way over while the crank got harder to turn, as it should. Sold AS-IS but I think this meter is in good working order. This auction is on a vintage Biddle hand crank Megger insulation tester. It comes with it's original case. Leads that show no cracking, original instructions manual, and a number of"Insulation Resistance Test Record" cards. This tester is in very good physical condition no chips or cracks on glass front. Leads are long with good insulation. It cranks smoothly and needle moves when cranked, all turn knobs are attached and work as intended. The case shows normal wear for its age and the leather strap on the case shows some cracking but that seems to be the worst thing about it, I have tried to show this in the picture.
