The meter wood enclosure measures approximately 6-1/4" tall X 3-3/8" wide(without probe holders) 4-3/4" wide(with probe holders) X 1-3/4" thick. The two leads are about 36" long each. The case is free of any chips or cracks. The leather handle is in good shape but for a few slight surface flaws, and the movement, contacts, and controls work properly and are free of intermittents. So it's clearly been used but well taken care of. I'm not a calibration lab but I have tested every range and all readings look reasonable. Sadly. The leather handle is pretty much gone, but the thick bakelite/plastic exterior looks ok, has some scratches and wear and can use a little cleaning but still is pretty shiny and I don't see any cracks and NO chips either! The D battery holder has some green corrosion on one terminal and will probably need at least one new terminal but they aren't hard to replace. The 2 AA battery terminals don't look too bad. With the bad battery terminal I have not tried to test the meter and am selling it asis with no guarantees, but I don't see any other obvious problems with it. Nice vintage radio test gear. Maxon Utility Tester Ohm Volt Amp Meter Similar to VTVM Good Condition .
This is for a Maxon Utility Tester. It does not have tubes or transistors and is more accurate than most vtvm's with a three percent accuracy. It has a 7.5 volt internal battery pack and a high current resistor network to test Volts Amps and Resistance. It also can test leakage up to one megohm of resistance. You can plug in the power cord and plug appliances into the meter to get true amps drawn by the appliance. The manual shows how to test many household and automotive devices. Heathkit VTVM Ohm Volt Multimeter Model IM - 5218 Tester
This is for a Heathkit Model IM- 5218 VTVM. It has been tested and it does work however the DC readings from a 1.5 volt battery were a little low. I did not try to measure an AC reading. As testing the AC line can be dangerous. For example if you connect the negative ground lead of the multitester to the hot or ungrounded AC lead it will blow a fuse. One of the two AC line connections in grounded through a one megaohm resistor and is usually connected to the wider AC plug end. The other thinner plug end is the hot AC connection. The AC on this meter should work but I don't know how accurate it is as it is untested. The Ohm function worked. When I tested a 5 K potentimeter it tested at just under 5 on the x 1 K scale. It appeared to be within 3 percent accurate, like these meters are supposed to be. I'm not sure if the DC readings ... morecan be improved be adjusting the DC internal Pot or not. The worst case is the DC readings are low. It is being sold as is with no inplied warante or guarantee of accuracy. If it is DOA I will insure it and a refund may take a month from the carrier, Probably the USPS or UPS ground. Please ask any questions before bidding and I will try to answer them quickly. Simpson 260 Series 5M untested AS-IS multimeter volt ohm milliammeter
This auction is for a used Simpson model 260 series 5M multimeter. It shows light wear and tear on all surfaces. There are no broken. Cracked, or repaired areas. It doesn't look abused. The upper surface has adhesive residue(see photo) When I opened the back I found that one of the battery terminals is broken/corroded off(see photo) I did verify that at least one voltage function works by testing an AA battery. While I have no reason to believe that this won't work properly with the battery terminal repair. I'm not able to test it enough to feel comfortable guaranteeing it. It's being sold AS-IS, for parts or repair. I don't have any test leads for this. I don't have the instructions.
