The upper surface has adhesive residue(see photo) When I opened the back I found that one of the battery terminals is broken/corroded off(see photo) I did verify that at least one voltage function works by testing an AA battery. Simpson 250 meter. Vintage age. Comes with both red and black wires. Both wire have black scuffs. I put battery into meter and touch both black and red wire and it responded. No further testing. The condition is good. There old tape on handle. The front looks great. The side looks good the back also. There a big crack on on right side that leads to the bottom of meter. Here is a meter made around 1949 and is the original of the many Triplett 630s in the series. No suffix, not type 1,2, etc. This meter has had a good life by all indications. The case is free of any chips or cracks. The leather handle is in good shape but for a few slight surface flaws, and the movement, contacts, and controls work properly and are free of intermittents. So it's clearly been used but well taken care of. I'm not a calibration lab but I have tested every range and all readings look reasonable. Sadly. This is a vintage Simpson Model 260. Series 8P, analog multi-meter in very good condition. The meter is mounted in a roll-top case that completely covers and protects the meter face when rolled down. Because the meter has been secured in the hard case. It is in excellent mechanical as well as electrical condition. Leads are included. Prior to the advent of digital meters. The Simpson 260 was the most popular and rugged meter in use. It measures AC and DC volts. Ohms and milliamps. I personally used a Simpson 260 on my job in the late 1970s. The leather handle is pretty much gone, but the thick bakelite/plastic exterior looks ok, has some scratches and wear and can use a little cleaning but still is pretty shiny and I don't see any cracks and NO chips either! The D battery holder has some green corrosion on one terminal and will probably need at least one new terminal but they aren't hard to replace. The 2 AA battery terminals don't look too bad. With the bad battery terminal I have not tried to test the meter and am selling it asis with no guarantees, but I don't see any other obvious problems with it. Nice vintage radio test gear. This is a simpson 260 series 8 Xi volt-ohm-milliammeter with padded case. Leads and alligator clips. The case is somewhat soiled and dingy but is in great shape with only a small abrasion on the back side. The meter and probes are in very good shape and the unit works well. The case is inscribed on the front with the letters ABCRS#413 and the meter is engraved on the back base with the same(see pictures) Due to an abrasion to the insulation. Simpson 260 Series 5M untested AS-IS multimeter volt ohm milliammeter
This auction is for a used Simpson model 260 series 5M multimeter. It shows light wear and tear on all surfaces. There are no broken. Cracked, or repaired areas. It doesn't look abused. The upper surface has adhesive residue(see photo) When I opened the back I found that one of the battery terminals is broken/corroded off(see photo) I did verify that at least one voltage function works by testing an AA battery. While I have no reason to believe that this won't work properly with the battery terminal repair. I'm not able to test it enough to feel comfortable guaranteeing it. It's being sold AS-IS, for parts or repair. I don't have any test leads for this. I don't have the instructions. I bought this sign many years ago at a auction of a guy that a huge collection of vintage testing stuff. Sign is. 23 inches wide. 35 inches tall. 5/16 inches thick. Made of a dense material like Masonite. It had no knobs left on it but I found good replacements. Many scratches dings dents chips scuffs etc. It is bent from standing up on its end. Looks like it had some type of moving adjustment on the back as the center selector. Has a pulley. The other one clicks as it is adjusted like a working model. This auction is for a neat vintage Simpson multi-meter. The meter itself appears to be in good vintage condition with no obvious defects or damage. There is one small screw missing to hold on the front case- but other 3 are there so not an issue. There is no manual but I have been told by someone who is an expert on it as foll ows: It is a Simpson 8455. But it is a"line loop tester" made& designed for Bell telephone back in the switchboard/party line days to check for low voltage faults. They were made for at least 50 years because I bought one of the last ones in 1992 NIB from a Simpson dealer. Only good for land line telephone work. Not a voltmeter. But a 2 meg-ohm fault checker. The cloth covered wiring leads are also in very good condition and wiring is not frayed and has not stiffened. The alligator clips are intact and ... morework fine. The leather carrying case has an area where stitching is missing but otherwise is in excellent condition- snaps work and leather isn't stiff. The unit has not been tested- we removed a 45 volt Ever-Ready battery with some leakage but not on any of the circuitry. Simpson 260 Multimeter Series 6M Voltmeter VOM Volt- Milliammeter Ohm
This unit has 2 chips on the corners of the housing plus a hairline crack. The 9 volt battery terminal needs to be replaced. Face plate glass is in good condition Comes with 2 leads. I picked this up at an estate sale because it looked neat. I have absolutely no idea what it does or how it works. Thought someone maybe able to use it for parts or fix the battery terminal.
