THE METER IS MADE IN ENGLAND FROM THE 1950'S THE METER IS VERY CLEAN THE NEEDLE MOVES FREELY THE GLASS IS IN GREAT CONDITION THE METER HAS A LEATHER CARRYING STRAP. THE METER SHOWS VERY LITTLE SIGNS OF WEAR FROM AGE OR USE AS IT IS GREAT CONDITION. I WAS GOING TO TRY TO FIX THE METER AS I AM PRETTY SURE FROM IT'S CONDITION THAT IT WOULD WORK WITH THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. Vintage AVO Multiminor mkV Electrical Test Multimeter
Avo Multiminor Test Meter MkV 10k/volt multi-test meter by this famous and reputable company. The Avo Model 8 was standard issue in the Royal Navy when I did my electronics training) All ranges apart from'current' have been tested and are working fine. The'current' ranges require small value resistors and a voltage supply to test them hence not tested but I think they will probably be ok(current testing in my experience is not used much except perhaps in design work) This meter is in very good condition- with these notes: 1. The'zero ohms' slider has been replaced in the past at some point and needs replacing again but with a spring type wiper for good contact. You can set zero with care but slider really needs sorting. 2. The rear cover has been repaired at its corners but you can hardly notice. 3. Vintage Electronic Avometer AVO Model EA113 The Electronic Avometer(EA113) incorporates an amplifier to increase the sensitivity of the instrument. It could be used on high impedance circuits without affecting either the operation of the circuit or the reading of the meter. The ordinary AVOs could not do this. But we tend to forget these details nowadays when all multimeters have sensitive amplifiers. It has an unusual ohms range, too, which works in the opposite direction to normal analog meters, with zero ohms on the left and infinity on the right. The ohms adjustment control must be set(with the probes apart) to infinity, instead of the usual adjustment to zero with the probes shorted. In addition to that, the red terminal is positive when measuring ohms, whereas on a normal analog meter it would be negative on ohms ranges. In most DC ... moreranges, the meter can be set to centre-zero instead of having zero on the left. In this mode, the knob on the right is used to adjust the pointer to an accurate zero in the middle of the scale. The scale is marked 1-100 in black and 50-0-50 in red, for use in centre-zero mode. This meter also has a wonderfully colourful case, in blue instead of AVO's usual black. Takes four AA batteries.
