But occasionally. The auto ranging function does not work at the first-boot. if you just turn on the meter. Measure something like a DC 9v if it say OL(over load) That's the problem. if so. Just turn it off(or to other measurement like AC) and turn it on(or back to DC) again, should work okay then. Besides. If you know you're measuring something within a specific range. Let say you're measuring a Ni-HM AA battery. You know it has to be within 0~1.6v, if the meter say something like 1.8 or OL. Which is obviously wrong, same problem.turn it off and on again.should work then. When it goes wrong. It's pretty ... moreobvious.not something tinny that you'd think normal. so. Might still be useful as a spare. When it works. It works pretty good actually. I use the DC mainly and it's barely 0.003~0.001v different from the Fluke 87v(i mean low voltages mostly sub 24v) good enough for casual gadgets it's NOT a true RMS meter BTW.
