As you can see it is in good perfect working condition and you can use it fine without the prong end. Comes with a 9 volt battery installed already so its ready to use. Its missing a couple screws that fell out which should be easy to find I have a piece of electrical tape around it which has worked fine for me forever. This is a fluke 8840A that I have tested against a recently calibrated HP34401A(so I am using it as a transfer standard in conjunction with a stable power supply) Please note the plastic covering the display is missing. However the display is still bright. The manual will be sold as a print out in a binder. The unit will come with two probes(pamona brand sharp probes ~150 miliohms resistance) and a AC power cord(IEC cord) The calibration was performed by using the 34401A in 6.5 digit mode with low pass filter on 3Hz. As you can see the meter is still doing pretty darn well over all the years*Please check the pictures for calibration data

You can reverse the polarity of the DC circuit with the ACV switch which is nice to have and it reads up to 1.2 amps. Or a 12 amp scale. I don't have a manual for it. I have tested the DC and AC sides of the meter and with standard voltages it works just fine. You can also use the ohm meter up to 1K range, but after that, it take a 30v battery which I don't have and don't know where you can get one. Very good used meter with a lot of life left in it. The case has a few chips in it that I have shown in the pictures. I like using analogue meters along with digital ones because you get a good feel for the scale by using a meter that is lost on a digital ... moreread out, just like a digital clock versus one with hands. Comes with new leads as a meter without test leads is like a car without tires. Nice, but you can't use it. Simpson 260 Series 5P Meter. Overload protected. Tested.
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 One Vintage Simpson 260 Series 5P Meter This is a very clean meter in excellent condition. All functions are working correctly. Photos show the meter measuring DC voltage and current. I measured the AC wall outlet accurately and also measured 10ohm. 150ohm, 1000ohm and 10,000 ohm resistors with expected accuracy. The meter doesn't quite zero on the Rx1 scale but didn't seem to affect the measurement of the 10 ohm resistor. Things I've done for the meter: ~Replaced both batteries ~Replaced the only paper capacitor with a new film capacitor. 0.1mf@630volts. ~Cleaned the case and polished completely with Novus#2 plastic polish. ~Polished the shoulder screws that secure the handle ~Tested all functions of the meter. This is a very nice example of a classic Simpson meter. This auction ... moreincludes only the Simpson meter. The Fluke meter and test leads shown in the photos are not included. ANTIQUE Tested RCA Institutes Inc. VOLT OHM METER ORIGINAL Bakelite CASE
Up for your bids, a working antique bakelite VOM by RCA industries Inc. USA. It has been tested to work(at least partially) See pics for resistance reading with clip leads connected to each other at Rx100. Also pic of testing a 9V battery with 9V diplayed on the scale. Meter reads low on the other scales. Needs to some newer components within to get the meter readings all straight on all the scales. Nice original knobs feel great. Snapping into position quite firmly. Original case has no cracks. No chips. Just a bit of tape residue to clean up with goo gone.
