Bidding on a vintage Simpson Model 260 multimeter. The date written inside the case is from 1961. The unit has been bench tested and everything works. A"D" cell battery is required for operating the ohmeter but it has been removed to reduce shipping costs and prevent corrosion. All switches. Knobs and dials work and the meter"zeros" properly. The leather carrying strap is attached. There is no case. The probes are included but the wires have some cracks.

This is a beautiful outfit with alligator clips that fit over the terminals. The two leads and clips fit down into a compartment below so this unit can be completely closed. This auction is for a used Simpson 260 Multimeter AC Ammeter Adapter Model 653. Made in the U.S.A. by the Simpson Electric Company of Chicago, Illinois. Its purpose is to increase the current measuring range of the multimeter, and provide electrical isolation from the circuit under test using a transformer. The adapter slips into the multimeter plug sockets and is locked into place with a clip at the back. Only the adapter is included in this auction. The condition of this adapter is as follows: The adapter was successfully attached to a Simpson 260 multimeter. However. No electrical tests or measurements were made with it. The internal components are in good physical shape. There is a low resistance between all binding posts and the common binding post. The panel switch moves freely and all binding post knobs turn freely. The adapter case ... moreis in good physical shape. But has some scuff marks and scratches. Vintage Simpson Model 260 Multimeter - Leather Handle + Leads
From an estate. I have an early Simpson Model 260 multimeter- I am not sure which series this is. This meter has an intact, although cracking, leather handle. Also included are what I believe may be the original leads. As seen in the photos. The AC voltage and Ohm meter functions work. I also tested the DC voltage by testing a dry cell battery, and it works fine. I did not check current. The case is solid. With no cracks or defects. It does exhibit normal wear and tear. Please note that when I opened the case. There was a burn smell, but the functions that I tested(not amperage) worked fine and I could not detect any malfunction or overheating while I was using it. There is some peeling on the face and a bit of corrosion where a smaller battery should go on the inside(see photos) Also the ZERO OHMS adjustment is a bit touchy. This is a Simpson Model 260-2 Analog Multimeter. The meter has been tested and is functional. There case needs cleaning and there are various decals and other markings on it. The case does not have any cracks. The interior of the case is clean but there is evidence of prior battery leakage in the D cell bay. There is a fuse above the D battery holder that I do not see in other photos of the 260-2. The AA battery clips are included as well as the original case. The meter movement is in excellent condition. It moves smoothly and the adjustment works properly. The meter is being sold as is.

This Multimeter has a zero Ohms and a A.C. or D.C. knob. I'm assuming this is a series 2 from the other items on ebay and their pictures. It does come with the leads. The lead wire insulation has a couple of places where the plastic coating is brittle due to age but the wires are not broken. Also. In the top left hand corner of the white part of the meter, I noticed a slight yellowing but not very much- please look closely at the pictures. I'd rather give too much information than not give enough and mislead you into a purchase. Tested and it works great!

Vintage 1959 Bakelite Simpson Model 260 Series 3 Multimeter Needs Love- Works! This MultiMeter is in fair condition as it has been partially refurbished. There was a problem at some point with leaked batteries. I cleaned out corrosion with lemon juice to neutralize the alkaline and the battery terminals are now working properly. As you can see in the last two pictures. The needle moves when testing a battery. I wasn't planning on including the leads as they're not in the best shape, but I decided to include them at the last minute. This is a beautiful old meter. The needle is broken off, but as you can see, it still works. With the needle repaired/replaced and a new piece of glass covering the meter itself, this will look Great!
