Here’s an unusually well preserved example with a front panel that looks factory fresh. The instrument was recently serviced, and the old obsolete Amphenol output connectors were replaced with BNC type that will be much more compatable with today’s cables and adapters. Components inside are looking fine with no signs of swelling or discoloration, and the generator has been recently tested. Generator will prove to be a valuable instrument to have when aligning radios, etc where you can switch in the on-board modulation circuit or externally modulate a signal on top of the RF signal. The unit has been tested, and the signals are present at all frequencies. The audio test signal is working as well with a very clean sine wave output. In good mechanical condition(the 5:1 vernier on the tuning knob is smooth as silk) but is being sold as-is since its working condition can't be determined. The pilot lamp lights up(always a good sign) but the vacuum tubes(a 6AU6, a 6X4 and a 6SJ7GT) are missing. The paper label fell off the electrolytic capacitor and is now preserved in a plastic envelope. The unit has not been fully tested but was given a detailed inspection. The unit has some paint chipping spots around the front of the unit. A couple of screws that secures the face plate to the cabinet are missing. The handle on top is in tact and is in good shape. The unit was plugged in and it did power up. On the front of the unit are 2 plastic dial indicators on top of the main dial. The bottom plastic indicator has somewhat bowed and has lost its shape but still in tact. Tested and Working Serial Number 310-18603 This is a really nice piece of vintage tube test gear that is still very popular with hobbyists and collectors. I have confirmed on the bench that this signal generator will output a distortion-free sine wave between 20Hz and 40KHz at 24.5VRMS into a 600 ohm resistive load across its entire frequency range. Which meets the original specification for this item. I will forward my oscilloscope screenshots of the output signal at full amplitude and at various output frequencies upon request, as I have exceeded my picture count for this item and can't include them here. Fully tested and ready for use right out of the box. I have done the following to bring this item into working condition: 1. Replaced the AC line cord; someone had chopped ... morethe ground prong off of the plug on the original cord. And it was also in bad condition regardless 2. Replaced a faulty 6AQ6A tube in the oscillator stage with a NOS RCA 6AQ6A tube 3. Performed a cosmetic cleaning of the case. Knobs and front panel 4. Oiled the bearings and gears of the front panel frequency selection mechanism and the frequency range switch mechanism. As they were both a little"sticky" 5. Taped up the leather carrying handle with black electrical tape to prevent any further deterioration of the handle Disclosures: 1. There is a very small 60Hz signal"riding on" the output signal when the 1X frequency range is selected and the output amplitude is adjusted for maximum. This appears to happen on the 1X range only. 2. The scale on the large frequency dial is"off" a little. For example the dial must be set to around 940Hz to output a 1000Hz signal. This could be ignored if you are using an external device to verify the output frequency, such as an oscilloscope or counter, and which is a good practice anyway. 3. Simpson Model 315 Signal Generator Up for auction is a Simpson Model 315 Signal Generator. I bought this a while back with the intent of restoring it but I simply don’t have the time to do it. It is in fairly good condition. There are no dents or major scratches in the case and the dial glass is intact and not cracked. There is some light rust on the front plate but it should clean off fairly easily. The AC power cord is in bad shape. The rubber/plastic inside it is very brittle and cracks whenever you bend it. Therefore. I have not powered it up to see if it works and am listing as“for parts or not working” The inside is very clean. Vintage Triumph Model 131 Signal Generator Test Equipment for Tube Radios
You are bidding on a vintage"Triumph" model 131 signal generator for tube radio alignment. Nice looking vintage Triumph 1341 signal generator with big vernier airplane-style frequency dial(photo 1) Covers AM frequencies from 100kHz to 96MHz in five bands. Output level is adjustable using a range switch and an attenuation pot. Modulation choices include 400 cycle. External, unmodulated, and 400 cycle audio. Controls are nicely laid out and front panel artwork matches the better known Triumph Oscilloscopes. The unit measures 13" wide by 9" high by 8" deep and weighs about 17 pounds. This 131 is serial number 1045. Made in the USA(see last photo) It's in good cosmetic condition with both output cables and a decent line cord. Some screws are missing from the front panel and the output potentiometer is stiff(needs ... morelubrication) The external modulation socket was either never installed or has been filled with a hole plug(see photo 1) I tested this signal generator using an ordinary AM radio. I set the radio to 1210KHz(where there is no local station) Wrapped an output lead around the antenna, and tuned the signal generator through 1210KHz. As it passed through that frequency the AM radio picked up the signal. I could adjust the signal strength using the output range switch. That is all the testing I did, but it shows that this signal generator is working to some degree. For safety it would be a good idea to replace the power supply capacitors if you plan to use this regularly. I have been collecting and restoring antique electronics for more than 30 years.
