Sold AS-IS FOR PARTS. No Returns. Unit powers on and the 10 MHz reference signal works(confirmed by a frequency counter in the second picture) First picture shows result of pressing the status button. The relays can be heard clicking as the output power is increased or decreased. All front panel buttons seem to respond as expected. And tested special function codes work(e.g. Deviation meter code goes to correct setting- but don't know if the deviation meter works) Could be as simple as an internal fuse for all I know. I don't know enough about signal generators- and don't have time to thoroughly test and repair. You're welcome to request any simple tests. If I can perform them quickly, I may be able to update results to the posting.

HP8656B 8656 AM FM Signal Generator, 0.1-990MHz, powers up, parts only.
Up for auction is the following item: 1 Hewlett Packard 8656B AM/FM/Sine Signal Generator. Used, for parts only. It's mechanically in good condition, not scratched to death. One side handle is missing. There is some writing on the faceplace, though it's just Sharpie and might come right off. Unit powers up; all buttons respond to being pressed, though a few are sticky and could stand a cleaning. The display works, and it appears that all segments are good, though the plastic lenses have a little bit of hazing if you inspect them very carefully. Electronically.well. That's why it's a parts-only unit. If you look at the picture of the bottom of the unit with the cover off, you'll see something very important is missing: the final RF generator! It looks like it was carefully removed at some point(all of the wires were de-soldered, ... morenot cut. The RF pipes were unscrewed, not cut and bent) but without that, the unit may look good, but it's kind of useless as a signal generator. So, it's good for the rest of its parts, and if you have an 8565B that's has a working final stage but is damaged in some other way, here's a perfect unit for you. I purchased this unit here on eBay a few weeks back. Figuring it would make a good wintertime project, and I could learn some RF while I was at it. That plan didn't work out so well, so, back to the market it goes. Shipping is a flat 30.00 via UPS to anywhere in the lower 48; outside of that, we'll talk.
