The calibration seems to be correct. This is a vintage type item. And the metal case has a hammertone type of finish that seems to attract grime in the nooks and crannies. The case could use a good cleaning, as it has sat on a workbench unused for many years. It is mounted in a STRONG METAL- CARRY CASE. This unit was manufactured in the USA when the country still made high quality test equipment. As opposed the the newer lower quality items now made in China. The dial has the third harmonic of the highest band calibrated to 102 MHz. The G-1 was obviously designed with surplus sealed capacitors with two of them prominently mounted on the chassis. The first high voltage filter cap is a 1 mF sealed cap. Tubes are 6SN7 as the oscillator and amplifier and 6X5 as rectifier. The 400 Hz modulation audio is generated by a neon relaxation oscillator fed to the grid of one section of the 6SN7. Heath started advertising surplus electronics in Radio News magazine in August 1947. In the November 1947 issue. Heath advertised its first kit, an oscilloscope made partly with surplus parts. Heath soon followed up with other test equipment kits using inexpensive surplus parts wherever possible. Their first RF signal generator model G-1 first appears in the January 1948 issue. It has adjustable modulation, either internal or external. The meter has Carrier Level and% Modulation scales. I plugged it in. And could not get a signal out of it. The bulb in the green pilot light is good, but does not light up. I got an indication on the meter even though there was no output. It appears to be complete and in pretty good physical condition. The rubber feet on the bottom should be replaced. Internally. It looks very good and clean. I just don't have the time to repair it. It has the original manual and schematics. This is from the estate of a local ham operator. I have removed the tubes for shipping. You will find them wrapped and placed inside the cabinet for shipping. Don't forget to remove this packing material before powering up. I am selling this AS IS no returns. It has a frequency range of 100 KHz through 31 MHz in five bands controlled by a front panel band switch and a frequency control. MODEL. FEATURES, CONDITION: Very clean example of the Heathkit Model IG-102 RF Signal Generator will prove to be a valuable instrument to have when aligning radios. Etc where you can switch in the on-board modulation circuit or externally modulate a signal on top of the RF signal. RF sine signal is adjustable from 320 KHz all the way up to 110 MHz in six adjustable steps. Smoothly geared tuning condenser has great stability, and the dial pointer is accurate, closely matching the proper frequency calibrations. Photos of the electronics will show that this unit has seen very light use with no discolored or heat stressed components. To ensure reliability, the old 22uF electrolytics were replaced with new ones rated at 200V. Pots and switches have been properly cleaned and work well; the band selector switch is somewhat stiff, but does engage ... moreat each stop. The odd obsolete connectors that this unit came with were replaced with more modern BNC bulkhead connectors that will allow much more flexibility with today’s test equipment, cables and adapters. The unit has been tested, and the sine waves are clean without distortion, and maintain good amplitude throughout the frequency ranges, switches and pots work as they should. Modulation circuit works as well, and it was interesting to have a radio nearby to listen to the beat note and whistling as the IF and RF frequencies were being matched. Cosmetics are excellent if you can pardon a very minor paint chip on the back panel shown in one photo. No dents in cabinet, front panel graphics look excellent, knobs look factory fresh, and finish is holding up beautifully. Power cord is safe and pliable, ruby jeweled pilot light is bright. All in all, hard to go wrong with the beauty of Heathkit that allows the average guy with a soldering iron to service his own equipment a hundred years from now. Heathkit IG-102 RF Signal Generator Tested and Excellent Cosmetically
If you are looking for a very nice Heathkit signal generator. Look no farther. Excellent graphics.The freq range is 100KC trough 220MC in six bands with a 2% accuracy. The output is 50 ohms and the signal can be internally modulated with 400 cps. Now, this is not a lab quality instrument but is accurate enough to align vintage radios nicely. I restore radios as a hobby and use one just like it. The chassis and components are very clean. It is vintage test gear but I cleaned pots and aligned each band to spec. This is demonstrated with the photos. My frequency counter would not go into band F so I did not show the signal on it but it is good. Also notice the last photo that shows the modulated 400 signal. The waveforms show clean with no distortion. To check the calibrated output, just use a digital AM radio works well. Also, I am including ... morea NEW test lead and a schematic with operating instructions. The test lead is the same as original. Complete manuals are available on e-bay if you need one. The Step Attenuator is marked X1, X10, X100, X1K, X10K Microvolts. It has adjustable modulation, either internal or external. The meter has Carrier Level and% Modulation scales. I plugged it in. And could not get a signal out of it. The bulb in the green pilot light is good, but does not light up. I got an indication on the meter even though there was no output. It appears to be in good condition and work okay, but because of its age it is sold as-is- it may need recalibration or other maintenance performed. The only testing I did was to select some frequencies on my ICOM IC-761 HF/Shortwave Receiver, and I was able to hear the output of this signal generator on the Receiver, as I turned the IG-102's frequency dial to match that of the Receiver. And it will also accept an external tone or modulation source, or provide output of the internal 400-Hz tone generator for use with other test equipment. Here’s an unusually well preserved example with a front panel that looks factory fresh. The instrument was recently serviced, and the old obsolete Amphenol output connectors were replaced with BNC type that will be much more compatable with today’s cables and adapters. Components inside are looking fine with no signs of swelling or discoloration, and the generator has been recently tested. Generator will prove to be a valuable instrument to have when aligning radios, etc where you can switch in the on-board modulation circuit or externally modulate a signal on top of the RF signal. Photos of the electronics will show that this unit has a neat layout on a copper plated chassis, and interior is quite clean without corrosion. The unit has been tested, and the signals are present at all frequencies. The audio test signal is working as well with a very clean sine wave output. Modulation circuit works as well, and it was interesting to have a radio nearby to listen to the beat note and whistling as the IF and RF frequencies were being matched. Cosmetics are superb overall with only a few faint scratches on the gray textured wrinkle finish. Heathkit RF-1 Signal Generator in Excellent Calibrated Condition(The RF-1 is the same as the Heathkit IG-102 with a different color front panel. Internal construction and operating specs are identical. This Heathkit signal generator is in excellent condition. It has been completely checked out and the Heathkit calibration procedure performed. This generator works very well and puts out a stable modulated signal from the AM broadcast band up to 22 MHZ which was the highest frequency I could check with my SW receiver. I was able to check the frequency output up to about 70 MHZ with my bench counter and it worked very well to that range. The generator is very accurate and I have included a few pictures showing its output into an HP counter. The internal 400 HZ modulation works very well. All chassis components have been checked out and the tubes ... morewere checked and found to be strong. The old filter capacitors have been replaced with new equivalent components. Out of tolerance resistors have been replaced. All controls operate perfectly and all pots and switches have been cleaned with contact cleaner. The Heathkit calibration procedure has been performed and this unit is very accurate. The attenuation controls work properly and provide an infinite range of output attenuation. As you can see in the pictures this RF-1 is in excellent cosmetic condition and looks and works very well. The case is in exceptional condition. There are no scratches. This is a nice. Clean Heathkit model# IG-5280 RF Signal Generator. I received it as part of a large lot of used Amateur Radio and electronic test equipment, including other pieces of this Blue-cased series of Heathkit test equipment, which will be listed in separate auctions. It appears to be in very good condition but is not tested and it is sold as-is- it may need recalibration or other maintenance performed. It requires two- 9V batteries or an AC adapter for power(not supplied) A copy of the assembly/instruction manual is included. The IG-5280 Signal Generator has a built-in 1000 Hz audio tone generator. Output level adjustments are available for both the RF output signal. And for the internal 1000-Hz tone generator. Vintage Heathkit SG-6 RF Signal Generator-Ham Radio test receiver alignment SG6
This is a vintage Heathkit model# SG-6 RF Signal Generator. I received it as part of a large lot of used Amateur Radio and electronic test equipment. It appears to be in good condition and work okay. But because of its age it is sold as-is- it may need recalibration or other maintenance performed. It has scuffs and scratches typical for a unit of this vintage. The only testing I did was to select some frequencies on my ICOM IC-761 HF/Shortwave Receiver, and I was able to hear the output of this signal generator on the Receiver, as I turned the SG-6's frequency dial to match that of the HF Receiver. The SG-6 Signal Generator has a built-in audio tone generator. And it will also accept an external tone or modulation source, or provide output of the internal tone generator for use with other test equipment. Heathkit IG-102 AF/RF Signal Generator with Manual
A fully restored AF/RF generator thats in working conditon and can be put to use right out of the box. I purchased an original manual to complete this unit and installed BNC AF/RF connectors to bring it up to date. I replaced the 20/20mfd. filter capacitors which removed the audio hum from the unit and tested both outputs to insure proper operation there-after. The BNC test lead was all so purchased new and is included with this unit. We as Americans throw away many items that still have purpose in life and if we will choose to recycle/refurbish and buy those things made in this country we will be a great once nation again. Sorry to get on my soap-box but i would like to see more people restoring the items from the past and not throwing the baby out with the bath water.
