This is a fully functional HEATHKIT IG-102 RF Generator. This unit can be set to any desired frequency from about 100Khz to 110 Mhz via a 6 position range switch and and adjustable vernier dial and pointer. It produces either unmodulated or modulated(400hz tone) RF frequencies with adjustable attenuation via a 3 position coarse and a continuously variable fine attenuation control. This unit is useful anywhere an AM modulated or unmodulated RF signal between 100Khz and 110 Mhz is needed like: testing filter circuits. Adjusting tuners, receivers. shortwave radios, transceivers and any other kinds of frequency sensitive circuit devices. A needed tool for most any workbench! It is in very good physical and functional condition. The cabinet looks nearly new. With a fresh paint job. This unit originally came missing a modulation transformer. I ... morepurchased another unit and took the transformer from it to complete this job. A new tube was installed as well. It has had the new BNC connectors installed in place of the original style microphone"button" connector. This gives you easy latitude to obtain and use any number of coaxial test leads and connectors commonly used on today's benches(I felt this was important to do) I provide a brand new coaxial BNC terminated set of test leads with gator clip ends to start you off. The switches have been cleaned. The controls have been cleaned and lubricated. And the unit was adjusted for output over all ranges. I checked the electrolytic capacitors for condition and filtration. I like my cabinets to look good. So the cabinet has been cleaned. Then Painted and it looks marvelous! MODEL. FEATURES, CONDITION: Very clean example of the Heathkit Model IG-102 RF Signal Generator will prove to be a valuable instrument to have when aligning radios. Etc where you can switch in the on-board modulation circuit or externally modulate a signal on top of the RF signal. RF sine signal is adjustable from 320 KHz all the way up to 110 MHz in six adjustable steps. Smoothly geared tuning condenser has great stability, and the dial pointer is accurate, closely matching the proper frequency calibrations. Photos of the electronics will show that this unit has seen very light use with no discolored or heat stressed components. To ensure reliability, the old 22uF electrolytics were replaced with new ones rated at 200V. Pots and switches have been properly cleaned and work well; the band selector switch is somewhat stiff, but does engage ... moreat each stop. The odd obsolete connectors that this unit came with were replaced with more modern BNC bulkhead connectors that will allow much more flexibility with today’s test equipment, cables and adapters. The unit has been tested, and the sine waves are clean without distortion, and maintain good amplitude throughout the frequency ranges, switches and pots work as they should. Modulation circuit works as well, and it was interesting to have a radio nearby to listen to the beat note and whistling as the IF and RF frequencies were being matched. Cosmetics are excellent if you can pardon a very minor paint chip on the back panel shown in one photo. No dents in cabinet, front panel graphics look excellent, knobs look factory fresh, and finish is holding up beautifully. Power cord is safe and pliable, ruby jeweled pilot light is bright. All in all, hard to go wrong with the beauty of Heathkit that allows the average guy with a soldering iron to service his own equipment a hundred years from now. Heathkit IG-102 RF Signal Generator Tested and Excellent Cosmetically
If you are looking for a very nice Heathkit signal generator. Look no farther. Excellent graphics.The freq range is 100KC trough 220MC in six bands with a 2% accuracy. The output is 50 ohms and the signal can be internally modulated with 400 cps. Now, this is not a lab quality instrument but is accurate enough to align vintage radios nicely. I restore radios as a hobby and use one just like it. The chassis and components are very clean. It is vintage test gear but I cleaned pots and aligned each band to spec. This is demonstrated with the photos. My frequency counter would not go into band F so I did not show the signal on it but it is good. Also notice the last photo that shows the modulated 400 signal. The waveforms show clean with no distortion. To check the calibrated output, just use a digital AM radio works well. Also, I am including ... morea NEW test lead and a schematic with operating instructions. The test lead is the same as original. Complete manuals are available on e-bay if you need one. Heathkit IG-102S RF signal generator with the direct RF out connection that is not on the IG-102. Has the original Mullard 6AN8 amplifier tube and a GE 12AT7 osc. Five ranges of 100 to 320kc. 310 to 1100kc, 1 to 3.2mc, 3.1 to 11mc, 10 to 32mc and 32 to 110mc as harmonics. Has adjustable output amplitude and front panel selectable internal or external modulation. The adjustable amplitude audio modulation 400 Hz signal is available from a front panel connector. This is a nice. Clean, Heathkit model# IG-102 RF Signal Generator. I received it as part of a large lot of used Amateur Radio and electronic test equipment. It appears to be in good condition and work okay, but because of its age it is sold as-is- it may need recalibration or other maintenance performed. The only testing I did was to select some frequencies on my ICOM IC-761 HF/Shortwave Receiver, and I was able to hear the output of this signal generator on the Receiver, as I turned the IG-102's frequency dial to match that of the Receiver. The IG-102 Signal Generator has a built-in 400-Hz audio tone generator. And it will also accept an external tone or modulation source, or provide output of the internal 400-Hz tone generator for use with other test equipment. Coarse and fine adjustments are available for the RF output signal, and ... morevariable level control for the internal tone generator. Heathkit RF-1 IG-102 Signal Generator in Excellent Calibrated Condition
Heathkit RF-1 Signal Generator in Excellent Calibrated Condition(The RF-1 is the same as the Heathkit IG-102 with a different color front panel. Internal construction and operating specs are identical. This Heathkit signal generator is in excellent condition. It has been completely checked out and the Heathkit calibration procedure performed. This generator works very well and puts out a stable modulated signal from the AM broadcast band up to 22 MHZ which was the highest frequency I could check with my SW receiver. I was able to check the frequency output up to about 70 MHZ with my bench counter and it worked very well to that range. The generator is very accurate and I have included a few pictures showing its output into an HP counter. The internal 400 HZ modulation works very well. All chassis components have been checked out and the tubes ... morewere checked and found to be strong. The old filter capacitors have been replaced with new equivalent components. Out of tolerance resistors have been replaced. All controls operate perfectly and all pots and switches have been cleaned with contact cleaner. The Heathkit calibration procedure has been performed and this unit is very accurate. The attenuation controls work properly and provide an infinite range of output attenuation. As you can see in the pictures this RF-1 is in excellent cosmetic condition and looks and works very well. The case is in exceptional condition. There are no scratches. Rust, paint loss or other signs of abuse. There are no names, numbers, or other previous user added etched or painted symbols. see pictures) The knobs and handle are in excellent condition. The power cord Is in very good condition. The internal components and chassis look very good and the construction is excellent. This is likely a factory assembled unit which is usually a better more consistent construction than some of the home built units out there. Heathkit IG-102 AF/RF Generator W/Original Manual
Great clean condition with all functions tested and working. The tubes have been tested and all the switches have been cleaned as you can see the output is on spot. The 400 HZ. audio output works as well i replaced the old microphone jacks with modern BNC connectors so you can use it with most of todays equipment that has BNC input/output connections. I like the compact size of this unit and i'm sure it will fit in on the smallest of work benches. The only flaw i found in on the bottom edge of the face place.There is a slight dent that can be seen in the photo of this area. It does not effect the operation of the unit and does'nt show unless you look for it. If you want good working test equipment come see me. Thanks for looking. KF5QAA

Heathkit IG-102 AF/RF Signal Generator with Manual
A fully restored AF/RF generator thats in working conditon and can be put to use right out of the box. I purchased an original manual to complete this unit and installed BNC AF/RF connectors to bring it up to date. I replaced the 20/20mfd. filter capacitors which removed the audio hum from the unit and tested both outputs to insure proper operation there-after. The BNC test lead was all so purchased new and is included with this unit. We as Americans throw away many items that still have purpose in life and if we will choose to recycle/refurbish and buy those things made in this country we will be a great once nation again. Sorry to get on my soap-box but i would like to see more people restoring the items from the past and not throwing the baby out with the bath water. Description is from the assembly/operations manual: The Heathkit model IG-102 RF Signal Generator is an accurate and stable source of modulated or unmodulated RF(radio frequency) signals. Six over-lapping bands provide a wide range of frequencies for use in the AM. FM, TV, LW, and SW broadcast bands. The RF frequency is indicated on a large dial scale that is accurate and easy to read. Switch type and continuously variable attenuators are used to obtain output signal levels that are suitable for most applications. A built-in audio oscillator provides modulation for the RF signal. And serves as a convenient source of audio signal. The RF may also be modulated by an external audio signal. Working well last time I used it Years ago.
