Burleigh gimbal mount for 2" optics or mirrors in very nice condition. A true gimbal as both the azimuth and elevation axes are co-planar with the front surface of the mirror. There are three basic subassemblies to the mounts. The gimbal mount with the micrometer spindles; the removable optic carrier mount; and the angle support plate. The micrometer spindles have the large diameter plastic rings affixed for ease and precision of adjustment. Each axis has internal springs to keep the gimbal plates in contact with the micrometer spindles. The optic cell is a removable assembly that is held in place by a large knurled collar from the back(see photo showing cell removed) It is possible to remove the cell from the gimbal mount without disturbing the mount on the bench in order to change optics. The cell is designed so the reference plane ... moreof the mirror sits precisely in the gimbal plane. The front of the cell is chamfered so almost the entire mirror surface may be used when the incident light angle is less than or equal to 45 degrees. The cell will accept mirrors between 0.25 and 0.50 inches in thickness without additional spacers(thinner mirrors require spacer rings) The optic carrier includes a threaded retaining ring for retaining the optic and a first surface mirror that is in OK condition but the condition of the mirror is not considered as a defining attribute to the sale of this unit. This is a Newport/New Focus 1/2" kinematic mirror mount on base in mint condition. Includes soft-tipped set screw but NOT the very small hex wrench. The price from Newport is around $100. Another 9762 besides the two listed is also available but the set-screw is jammed and it may not be possible to remove it. So adhesive or the two through-holes would need to be used for mounting the optic. This would be only $40. Overseas buyers please note: The only option is to use the eBay Global Shipping Program.
