VARIABLE LASER ATTENUATOR Up for bid is a used. Xerox electronic variable attenuator for linear polarized Helium Neon lasers. The unit uses a electro-optic element and a stationary optic to variably attenuate the laser output power. A simple 0 to 3 VDC low current(less than 1mA) input is all that is needed to operate. The laser output can be fully attenuated at 0 volts or 3 volts depending on the light input plane of polarization and can produce an attenuation ratio of around 50:1. The assembly also has a beam splitter and a photodiode that taps a small amount of the attenuated light for use in a feedback loop circuit. Small Helium Neon HeNe Gas Laser Tube Science Fair Project Part Red Beam 632.8nm
This item is a very small helium neon laser tube. It still works fine and is one of the smallest working hene tubes I've ever seen. This tube needs about 1.000V at 3.5 to 4mA to operate. It would make a nice science fair project if put into a clear plastic case so the tube can be seen running. The first picture is without flash on, the last one is with the flash on. The beam is bright compared to most cheap laser pointers, and is a much prettier shade of red. I have lots of laser and other unique stuff for sale this week.

Coherent Green Hene Helium Neon Laser 543.5nm complete set 3 mw's
Nice laser. Not a scratch on the tube. Like new. This one I measured 3.3mw after only 10 minutes. It's rated for 2mw. Measured on a friends nice calibrated power meter. I will guarantee it for 3mw due to variances in meters. Un-polarized random beam. Comes with everything shown except the laser goggles box. This one had a cut cord like it was hard wired to a power supply. I built an elaborate splice for it to assure safety and reliability. The two cables were soldered and 2 layers of heat shrink with adhesive were added. I crimped a couple of stainless ear clamps on each end in the small phenolic box. Lastly. Up for bid is a working gas laser made by Spectra Physics. The housings for both components. And the connecting wiring all suggest a long and useful life, probably in an optics laboratory. If it is of interest to you, this laser was found at the estate sale of a scientist(I don't have his name) whom I was told held more patents in holography than anyone else in the USA. You will notice that one of the plastic feet on the laser housing is mis-matched, and one of the feet on the exciter is missing, both being minor flaws. An aluminum mounting plate on the bottom of the laser housing is drilled and tapped 1/4-20 to fit photographic tripods or other equipment. A paper stick-on label reveals that the"tube" was replaced on 12-16-87, so this laser has been around awhile.
