Lens is in just about mint condition. Shows no visible signs of use. Nikon made several models of the 500 mm F/8 Mirror Lens. This was the last one designed. And was discontinued in 2005. It is noted for it's close focusing ability- a little less than 5 feet! The lens is very compact and light, but best results are achieved mounted on a tripod. Hand held with newer DSLR's I recommend using ISO 1600 or higher. Comes with mounted rear UV filter. 4 additional filters in case, rotating tripod collar,and front and rear lens caps. Sigma 600mm f/8 Mirror Lens Olympus OM System Fit with case, hood, filters, caps
A very special lens indeed for the Olympus OM System. The Sigma mirror lens has. Of course, a fixed f/8 aperture, but is extremely compact because of the mirror design. There is a"normal" filter fitted in the pull out tray in the lens, and the set of four alternative filters in their case. The lens hood and caps are included. A filter needs to be used at all times as it is part of the optical design, which is why a normal filter is always fitted in addition to the filter set. Everything is in superb condition, with clean, clear optics and impeccable overall condition. It focuses down to a remarkably 1:3 reproduction ratio. This is one of the better mirror lenses and will be capable of excellent results. The hard case provided holds everything snugly and is itself a gorgeous bit of kit.

This lens works great on my Nikon D40. This lens has a fixed aperture. And is manual focus, so if you use it with an auto-focus/auto exposure camera you'll need to put your camera in"manual" settings, then adjust the speed for the appropriate exposure. If you haven't done this before, it's not that tough. I usually just"bracket" the shot at a few different speeds until I find one that gives the correct exposure(easy to do with digital cameras where you can see the shot you just took) The lens is used. But in excellent condition. The three filters, Skylight, NDX2, and NDX4, attach behind the lens(so while you can't change them without detaching the lens, they also don't get dirty) and have their own filter case. The ND filters are"Neutral Density filters are often ignored by photographers, but they ... morehave several uses and offer the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. ND filters appear grey and reduce the amount of light reaching the film, they have no affect on color balance. Up for auction is a vintage MTO-11CA 10/1000 Telephoto lens. I was told the M-42 screw mount has been replaced. I'm not sure what mount is on it. It has some normal wear and surface scratches. The biggest problem I have had buying lenses on eBay. Especially mirror lenses, is that it is usually too much of a trial-and-error process finding what you want and will actually use. This kind of procedure gets really expensive in a hurry! Most of the listings for mirror lenses include no sample images taken with the actual lens, and the descriptions are often too short and full of useless and often unreliable information, such as"mint condition, when that is an expression that is intended for items with collectible value. And to add insult to injury, so much of the stuff listed as being in"mint condition" ISN'T! Frankly speaking I do not think that most newer mirror lenses have value as collectibles. And I know I buy them with the intention of actually using them. That being said, I like to know what kind of optical ... morequality a particular lens delivers, how easy is it to work with, how heavy is it, and other information along those lines. If you take the time to examine the images above carefully, this lens is shown mounted on a camera body in order to show the actual size(camera not included) As I hope I have shown, this lens is remarkably compact and pretty well balanced, and does not require anything elaborate to stabilize it. Any decent tripod should work just fine with no need for other things to keep it steady unless you plan to do very long timed exposures. The light transmission of this lens is actually quite good, with a lot of exposures taken in daylight being under 1/100th of one second. The aperture is a constant 5.6 so the depth of field is constant and not adjustable. In addition to the clear 1A filter already on the lens, there are also two other filters included, one at ND 2X, and one at ND 4X. These two filters have never even been taken out of their little plastic bags. In practice you are not likely to use these filters much because they only reduce the amount of light coming to the camera and unless you want the blurred effect of moving water in a stream or some other timed
