Laser Beam Shutter with Ledex Rotary Solenoid and CO2 10.6um Mirror
Rotary Beam Shutter Solenoid with a CO2 Laser Mirror This is a kit for a laser beam shutter/ beam delivery control actuator. It's a rotary solenoid with an attachable arm. Which has a CO2 laser mirror at its end. When power is applied to the solenoid, the arm very quickly rotates to it's"up" position, so the mirror is removed from the beam path. When power is removed, the arm returns by spring action to its resting position. This is an important fail-safe feature- if control power is disconnected for some reason, the arm moves into the beam path and stops the beam. A typical arrangement would place the arm with the mirror at 45 degrees to the beam. So that when the solenoid is not actuated, the beam is diverted to a beam stop(a piece of non-reflective, non flammable material) Another option is to divert the beam towards ... morea power meter- so you can get an immediate, automatic readout of beam power! This is the rear cavity mirror for a Mazac slab laser used for industrial metal cutters. The mirror is 1 inch diameter and is coated at HR 10.6um on one side and AR 10.6um on the other. The neat thing about this optic is that it allows power measuring off the HR end without requiring expensive high power beam samplers and attenuators. This is a small protection optic for passively q-switched dpss lasers. It prevents backward going pulses from reaching the pump diode and blowing it up. These plates are used in several Coherent lasers as well as the JDS Uniphase MALDI tripled yag lasers. Melles Griot also uses similar optics on their blue 1W DPSS lasers. Coated HR1064/AR808 on one side. And AR808 on the other side. Dotted side faces the pump diode. The coating quality is good enough to use as a HR mirror also.
