Large Hughes Ruby Laser Rangefinder Transmitter Long Wave Detector Pass Filter
This is the primary optical filter for the Hughes m-60 ruby laser rangefinder detector. The optic is about 2-1/4 inch diameter. It was designed to block the shorter blue and green light and pass wavelengths from red to near IR. The filter is very angle sensitive making it possibly useful as a color selector for some project as well. And becomes transparent yellow at 45 degrees. This is a 20mm square(18mm dia usable) of some sort of plastic IR pass filter material that passes wavelengths longer than 780nm. It was designed either for laser filter detector use or photographic use. It was originally used to make a machine vision camera highly sensitive to IR galvo scanned patterns for a semiconductor wafer die alignment robot. It should be put after the lens in front of the CCD element. I took a picture. And as you can see it filters out nearly all the visible light out. The hot pink color is how most digital cameras see near infrared light. You can barely see through it.
