A vintage blue February 1936 Coleman 243 lantern in excellent condition. 1936 was the first year of production of the 243 and it was marketed as the economy model with a blue top vent, steel burner assembly/frame and blue painted brass fount. I don't like too use the word Rare, but these 243's don't come up for auction too often with the early style flat pump and blue top vent, I think the flat pump was offered for the first year or so.Anyway, this is a fine example; Blue top vent has some porcelain loss, the Mica shade is a reproduction from our good friend in Ohio. Steel burner frame is in good shape with minimal corrosion, the brass frame rest has shinny nickel plating, original paint fount is dent free and clean inside, the paint is not perfect but it's damn close. Most 243's and 243A's ... moreout there have lousy original paint, didn't hold up very good, this one is above average. Correct in every way, first production, limited production, early style top vent, not slotted as later unit's where. Top has little porcelain loss, but is very presentable. The large letter globe is stunning and crisp. Nice burner frame and shinny nickel frame rest. Fount has beautiful nickel plate, a couple small ding under the cleaning lever and is clean inside. So if you have a few minutes to spare, just click on the link below to see them all. I'm always happy to combine items to save on shipping! This is a vintage copper oil lamp filler by Sternau& Co. From the early 1900s. This was also used to fill the burners under the old Sternau coffee makers and chafing dishes. It stands about 4.25" from the base to the top of the center finial, 5.75" from the base to the top of the spout, is 4-1/8" in diameter at the center of the rounded container. This has the original patina and I decided to leave it that way rather than polish it, as some people prefer this aged copper appearance. I'm not ... moresure if this is solid copper or plated, but for sure the handle and the little bridge between the container and the spout is copper plated, as what appears to be brass shows through on this area. This has a swirly handle and a long, thin, curvy spout that has a tip cover that is attached by a chain. At the upper end of the handle is a round knob-like pump that can be pushed in and out and seems to have a nice spring action. The finial cover unscrews at the top of the oil can. There is patina over all of the surface and some verdigris and darker patches that can be seen in the photos. There is one ding in the surface of the body on the right center area when the spout is pointing toward the left as in the first photo. The base of the oil can is stamped with the Sternau& Co logo(S&Co) surrounded by a circle with the words Trade Mark and Patented around the logo. It would have gone on top of the gas pump and had a sign covering the bulbs. I don’t have the sign, but if you have one, you could bring it back to its original purpose. If not, there are so many other possibilities with this unique item. As you can see from the photos. The original cord is gone and I just spliced a cord to show that it was working. There is no cord included except what is left of the original cord. The entire lamp is approx. 16 inches wide. Each individual hole where the bulbs are located is about 5 ¼ inches from rim to rim. From top to bottom is stands approx. 19 inches and at the deepest point front to back it is approx. 8 ½ inches. I have a beautiful antique dry sink that has a hand operated water pump attached. The pump has been electrified and made into a lamp.The measurements are 33 inches tall. 30 inches wide, 18 1/2 deep, and the sink depth is 5 inches. The dry sink has been elevated off the floor buy a wood base. This makes it easier to open the door. It stands 2 1/2 inches up off the floor and is recessed 2 inches from the bottom edge. The door latch is original hardware in working order, occasionally the spring sticks. There is a small hole in the back left corner of the top, from way back when that is not shown in the pictures, but is not very noticeable and could be repaired. I would guess, to about 1900. It is just 4 1/2 inches tall to the top of the cap and because of its small capacity was possibly used to fill miniature oil lamps. The pump is untested but has good spring action. The 5-inch spout is complete with a cap cover and chain. The filler is non magnetic and may be copper or copper plated brass. It could be polished to gem-like quality. The filler is in good condition with a faint dent in the tiered portion of the top. A superb little lamp filler to use or display. Antique GAS LAMP Gorgeous Country Houses Scenes Shade Light With original Pump
For your Consideration: This listing is for a very nice Antique Kerosene Gas Lamp. This Lamp has no makers mark. May be a COLEMAN but i cant be sure. The base neck just below the wood carry post doesn't taper up like a Coleman. This lamp measures approx. 19" tall. Chrome base is approx. 8-1/8" diameter. The lamp shade measures approx. 8 1/4" in diameter and has no cracks and only one micro tiny chip on both the top& bottom lips. Near the Top interior part visible from above the shade has the number 183 written in and then glazed over. See picture#8. Wood handled Pumper for the tank comes with it and works great. Pump is missing the small wood screw on one side but this doesn't affect its ability to pump pressure into the tank. Please look close at all pictures for they also serve as part of the description. Coleman Lamp Lantern Co. model No. 5 clothes iron, torch lighting, 1929-33, pump
Offered is a Coleman light green model No. 5 gasoline clothes iron. Torch generating, with brass pump. Undated, but research suggests 1929-33. Iron is in overall good condition, but has two scorch marks on the underside of the green painted handle. There is no other paint loss or damage to the wood handle. Nickel fuel tank is shiny and dent-and-scratch free. There are spots of corrosion to the plated top plate. Brass ID placard is lightly tarnished but fully legible. Green enameled body has a few small chips and some very fine checking along the left side. Ironing face has some scratches, but these are not deep and the plated finish is fully present. Brass pump is missing one of the tiny screws holding the cap to the body, but functions fine. Please check out my other items up for auction. Most of these items have not been tested. But should ... morebe complete unless otherwise noted and should be able to be made useable again by the knowledgeable enthusiast.
