This is a very nice clean EIP/ Phase Matrix microwave signal generator. Model 931. I have owned and used this for a few years and it works well. It will output frequencies from 0.01GHz to 18.6GHz with over range to 20GHz. It will sweep frequency, power, markers, either automatically or manually. All parameters are adjustable via a front panel interface or via the GPIB buss. The only anomaly the instrument has is that it will not deliver the called for power across the full band. It will for the most part but there are some low spots. It will deliver about 9dB for the full range. When used with the 57X series of EIP source locking counters it is a very stable frequency source. Which are“as is, dirty, untested, or sold by somebody who says, I don’t know anything about this equipment, this instrument has been completely refurbished, re-calibrated and is fully guaranteed to work perfectly right out of the box. The case was re-painted. The knobs were replaced. The output connectors were changed to the modern BNC type. All the capacitors were replaced and the unit was re-calibrated on all bands against a Hewlett-Packard 5328A frequency counter. It comes with a very clean reproduction copy of the original manual(with schematics) See the photos. The only thing that is not near-perfect is the carrying handle which shows signs of its age. The manufacturer specified that the dial accuracy of this instrument is within 1% But did not specify 1% OF WHAT. There is a big difference between 1% of the indicated frequency on the dial and 1% of the full scale range. The percentage of indicated frequency is far tighter and more accurate than the percentage of full scale range. In calibrating this generator against a Hewlett-Packard frequency counter, it was set to an accuracy within 1% of the actual dial setting on all frequency bands except the very highest end of the top three bands. Those are within 3% of dial setting, which is well within 1% of the full-scale range. This instrument is supplied with a calibration data sheet that indicates the accuracy on all ranges.
