MODEL. FEATURES, CONDITION: The Eico Model 315 is an impressive looking piece of test equipment to have on the bench with its large central tuning dial. Black control knobs, dual pilot lighted dial window, and“suitcase” style portability. The instrument was recently serviced, and the old obsolete Amphenol output connectors were replaced with BNC type that will be much more compatable with today’s cables and adapters. The old oozing wax/ foil capacitors were replaced with modern caps of the proper voltage rating, and it was obvious that this piece had seen very little use, as there were no discolored, swollen or stressed components, nor any dust build-up on the beautifully preserved copper plated chassis. The old stiff power cord was replaced with a safe pliable one, and the unit was tested. RF signal is adjustable from 75 KHz all the way up to 150 MHz in six adjustable steps on the Band Selector. Smoothly geared tuning condenser has great stability, and the dial index mark accurately points to the proper frequency calibrations. Photos of the electronics will show that this unit has a neat layout on a copper plated chassis. Pots and switches have been properly cleaned and work well, with switches positively engaging. The unit has been tested, and the signals are present at all frequencies. The audio test signal is working as well with a very clean sine wave output. Modulation circuit works as well, and it was interesting to have a radio nearby to listen to the beat note and whistling as the IF and RF frequencies were being matched. Cosmetics are excellent overall with a fine gray textured wrinkle finish on the cabinet, clean front panel, and the carry handle is safe and sturdy. This is a nice. Clean, Heathkit model# IG-102 RF Signal Generator. I received it as part of a large lot of used Amateur Radio and electronic test equipment. It appears to be in good condition and work okay, but because of its age it is sold as-is- it may need recalibration or other maintenance performed. The only testing I did was to select some frequencies on my ICOM IC-761 HF/Shortwave Receiver, and I was able to hear the output of this signal generator on the Receiver, as I turned the IG-102's frequency dial to match that of the Receiver. The IG-102 Signal Generator has a built-in 400-Hz audio tone generator. And it will also accept an external tone or modulation source, or provide output of the internal 400-Hz tone generator for use with other test equipment. Coarse and fine adjustments are available for the RF output signal, and ... morevariable level control for the internal tone generator. Sold AS-IS FOR PARTS. No Returns. Unit powers on and the 10 MHz reference signal works(confirmed by a frequency counter in the second picture) First picture shows result of pressing the status button. The relays can be heard clicking as the output power is increased or decreased. All front panel buttons seem to respond as expected. And tested special function codes work(e.g. Deviation meter code goes to correct setting- but don't know if the deviation meter works) Could be as simple as an internal fuse for all I know. I don't know enough about signal generators- and don't have time to thoroughly test and repair. You're welcome to request any simple tests. The great thing about this generator is that parts will likely always be available if it needs repair. That's not true for the HP signal generator I now have on the bench. This generators knobs. This is a used HP 8660C RF Signal Generator for parts. This unit partially functions. But caused a known good RF module to keep dropping out. I have used the side panels and the Manual Tuning switch& Tuning RPG to replace ones on a good unit that got broken in shipping. The right handle on this unit is completely broken off. The left handle is broken at the top. This was the shipping damage to the original good unit. The keyboard of this unit appears to function properly and the frequencies can be selected as shown in the first three pictures. I have not performed any troubleshooting on this unit since it was intended to be used only for replacement parts, however, my guess would be that the 11661 Frequency Extension Module is causing the dropouts. The third and fourth pictures show AM and FM modulation at 100 MHz. The last picture shows the output at 500 MHz with no modulation. The output is set to-20 dBm on the internal meter. The analyser reading is pretty close to that, 20.58 dBm. The case is marked but the front panel is pretty good. The display is fine and all the switches and the tuning wheel work correctly. Here’s an unusually well preserved example with a front panel that looks factory fresh. The instrument was recently serviced, and the old obsolete Amphenol output connectors were replaced with BNC type that will be much more compatable with today’s cables and adapters. Components inside are looking fine with no signs of swelling or discoloration, and the generator has been recently tested. Generator will prove to be a valuable instrument to have when aligning radios, etc where you can switch in the on-board modulation circuit or externally modulate a signal on top of the RF signal. RF signal is adjustable from 150 KHz all the way up to 220 MHz in five adjustable steps on the band selector. ... moreSmoothly geared tuning condenser has great stability, and the dial index mark accurately points to the proper frequency calibrations. Photos of the electronics will show that this unit has a neat layout on a copper plated chassis, and interior is quite clean without corrosion. Pots and switches have been properly cleaned and work well, with switches positively engaging, power cord is safe and pliable. The unit has been tested, and the signals are present at all frequencies. The audio test signal is working as well with a very clean sine wave output. Modulation circuit works as well, and it was interesting to have a radio nearby to listen to the beat note and whistling as the IF and RF frequencies were being matched. Cosmetics are superb overall with only a few faint scratches on the gray textured wrinkle finish. Heathkit RF-1 Signal Generator in Excellent Calibrated Condition(The RF-1 is the same as the Heathkit IG-102 with a different color front panel. Internal construction and operating specs are the same. This Heathkit signal generator is in excellent condition. It has been completely checked out and the Heathkit calibration procedure performed. This generator works very well and puts out a stable modulated signal from the AM broadcast band up to 22 MHZ which was the highest frequency I could check with my SW receiver. I was able to check the frequency output up to about 70 MHZ with my bench counter and it worked very well to that range. The generator is very accurate and I have included a few pictures showing its output into an HP counter. The internal 400 HZ modulation works very well. All chassis components have been checked out and the tubes ... morewere checked and found to be strong. The old filter capacitors have been replaced with new equivalent components. Out of tolerance resistors have been replaced. All controls operate perfectly and all pots and switches have been cleaned with contact cleaner. The Heathkit calibration procedure has been performed and this unit is very accurate. The attenuation controls work properly and provide an infinite range of output attenuation. As you can see in the pictures this RF-1 is in excellent cosmetic condition and looks and works very well. The case is in exceptional condition. There are no scratches. Rust, paint loss or other signs of abuse. There are no names, numbers, or other previous user added etched or painted symbols. see pictures) The knobs and handle are in excellent condition. The power cord Is in very good condition. The internal components and chassis look very good and the construction is excellent. This is likely a factory assembled unit which is usually a better more consistent construction than some of the home built units out there.
