vintage Hickok mod. 288X universal crystal controlled signal generator
This 288X is in working condition. All the knobs work. The signal generator portion works I tested it with a vintage Army corps Frequency meter meter that I just put on e bay, There are a lot of things on the instrument that I don't know what there used for or how to test them. The calibration isn't accurate but its in the ball park. There is a chip out of the plastic frame on the left volt meter( see picture) The unit has been in storage for 30 or 40 years. 1960 Vintage General Radio 1360-A 1.7GHz-4.1GHz Klystron Microwave Oscillator
General Radio Microwave Test Oscillator- working The 1360-A is a two-band microwave oscillator suitable for general test and development use. The low band covers 1.7- 2.8 GHz; the high band is 2.6- 4.1GHz. Nominal output is 100mW(20dBm) over both bands. Output varies considerably over frequency(the manual says 20 to 300mW) And I have no way of measuring the actual output power. I have verified operation across both bands. The ON/OFF switch handle is broken. So the switch is always ON. Other panel controls are: main frequency tuning, fine tunng,sweeep amplitude(for FM mode) output level, meter sensitivity, and an 8-position rotary mode switch. All controls work.The panel meter gives a relative output level. There are bana jacks for ground, external modulation in, and sync out. The main tuning dial is a bit loose in operation. One tunes down ... morethrough the lower band. Indicated by the red light to the left, then into the high band, at which point the red light goes out and the white one comes on. Output is via a General Radio 874-type"hermaphroditic" connector. Adapters for these to more usual types. Such as BNC, may be found on Ebay and elsewhere. The photos show the oscillator in various aspects. In addition. The two oscilloscope photos show the detected output under internal(1KHz) and external(400Hz) square wave amplitude modulation. The spectrum analyzer photos show the output under internal 1KHz FM and external 400Hz FM modulation. The frequency in all cases is 1.7GHz. General Radio VHF Test Oscillator- working The 1208-B is a very wide range VHF oscillator suitable for general test and development use. Frequency coverage is 65MHz to 500MHz. Nominal output is 200mW(23dBm) across the band. Output is said to vary somewhat over frequency. And I have no way of measuring the actual output power. I have verified operation up to 300MHz using various VHF receivers. Output is via a homemade loop adapter with a female BNC connector. There is a 1/4" phone jack for modulation and output regulation. The oscillator has a power cable with a Jones plug. Power is provided by a General Radio unit power supply or similar(not included) The oscillator requires 6.3VAC. 0.9A for the tube heater and B+ of 300V or so at 40mA. The photos show the oscillator in various aspects. Antique Triplett 1231 Signal Generator This is a very early Triplett 1231 signal generator. I'm thinking it is from the 1930's The wrinkle finish on the case is excellent. But the front panel shows some age. It's super clean inside. Also, it has it's original cloth line cord. functional, but should be replaced as it's over 80 years old. I carefully powered it up on a Variac and was able to hear heterodynes as I tuned the generator and listened on a broadcast band radio. This is yet another restoration I planned to do. This is an RCA Signal Generator. Model WR-49A. The front and back panels are aluminum and the body is gray painted steel. The cabinet size is 10 ½ in. wide x 6 in. deep. The upper frequency indicator window coves the range from 1.6 to 30 mHz in 3 scales. The lower one covers 85 to 1600 kHz in 3 scales. There are knobs for coarse and fine attenuation. Frequency range switch(6 positions) Mod. AF, tuning, and off/modAF/cw. There are HI and LO RF outputs and AF in/out. A 40 in long dual plug cable is included. I have no way of testing it so it is offered as/is. The pilot light operates when switched on so it is receiving power and the power cord is good. The handle is good. Vintage 1959. Allied Radio sold this sharp 2 tube signal generator to thousands of technicians around the world! Still works as it did then, original AC cord that is in good shape so has not seen bad times! This covers from 160 kHz to 112 MHz in 5 bands. What i do know about it is that it has 7 of the old tubes and all 7 tubes light up but not all at once when you put it on a different frequency the other tubes light up. It was very well kept and clean It is made of steel and when I plug it in. It turns on. This is a vintage Heathkit model# SG-6 RF Signal Generator. I received it as part of a large lot of used Amateur Radio and electronic test equipment. It appears to be in good condition and work okay. But because of its age it is sold as-is- it may need recalibration or other maintenance performed. It has scuffs and scratches typical for a unit of this vintage. The only testing I did was to select some frequencies on my ICOM IC-761 HF/Shortwave Receiver, and I was able to hear the output of this signal generator on the Receiver, as I turned the SG-6's frequency dial to match that of the HF Receiver. The SG-6 Signal Generator has a built-in audio tone generator. And it will also accept an external tone or modulation source, or provide output of the internal tone generator for use with other test equipment. Coarse and fine adjustments are ... moreavailable for the RF output signal, and variable level control for the internal tone generator. There are five selectable frequency ranges from 160 kHz to 50 MHz(with calibrated harmonics to 150 MHz. All of the switches and controls move freely.
