Inside everything is super clean. There is no dust or corrosion anywhere. The Cabinet, rear panel and feet have all been cleaned up as well. While the front panel was apart I took the opportunity to clean every button, the silkscreened panel and the display filter. The display filter does have a small scrape across its very rightmost end but, other than that, the appearance of this unit is exceptionally nice and clean. It is in very good physical and functional condition. The cabinet looks nearly new. With a fresh paint job. This unit originally came missing a modulation transformer. It has had the new BNC connectors installed in place of the original style microphone"button" connector. This gives you easy latitude to obtain and use any number of coaxial test leads and connectors commonly used on today's benches(I felt this was important to do) I provide a brand new coaxial BNC terminated set of test leads with gator clip ends to start you off. The switches have been cleaned. The controls have been cleaned and lubricated. And the unit was adjusted for output over all ranges. I checked the electrolytic capacitors for condition and filtration. I like my cabinets to look good. So the cabinet has been cleaned. Then Painted and it looks marvelous! Motorola Model S-1318A FM signal generator- S/N: 887. Made by Measurements. Boonton, NJ- Circa early 1970's. This is a later solid state version of one of the classic pieces of test equipment found on the bench and in the service vans of many two way radio shops of the 50's- 70's- before service monitors became the norm. That's where this particular piece came from- I've had it for 6 years or so and it's worked well for me. Six frequency ranges: 25-32. 32-41, 41-54, 130-175, 400-470, and 890-960(2nd harmonics) Mhz. this is the model that also has an IF band generator built in- BNC jack for output. Those ranges are: 2.4-3.9, 3.9-6.0, 6.8-9.4, and 69-76MHz, plus there are a couple crystal jacks on the front panel for 250 Khz- 1 Mhz. I never had occasion to use the 890-960 band or the IF generator- they both show output ... moreto my frequency counter(the 890-960Mhz RF band reads@ 1/2 the dial frequency) This piece also has the 6dB attenuator pad on the output(you read output level on the right side line on the clear plastic overlay of the output dial) the output of the pad is an"SO-239" UHF female connector that mates with a"PL-259" UHF male. No RF or IF output cable is supplied with this item. I never had this instument calibrated or serviced- it always worked fine for me and the results were completely consistent with the specs of the working equipment that I checked with it. I'm making no specific claims as to it's accuracy. Also included in the auction is the OEM Motorola manual and power cord. I do not have the front cover for this item- the latch bar and hinge pins are in place on the case. Cosmetically it's in good condition with scratches and marks consistent with it's age. The specifications are given up to + 7dBm output in the range of 100 kHz to 2060 MHz. However the amplitude can be over ranged to + 17dBm and frequency down ranged to 10 kHz, with specifications moving out of tolerances toward the limits. I tested the functionality of this unit- passed all the tests OK. I tested specifications within the limits of my test equipment; my performance check was limited to the range of 1 GHz, all the tests I could do the results were within ... moretolerances. Heathkit IG-102 RF Signal Generator Tested and Excellent Cosmetically
If you are looking for a very nice Heathkit signal generator. Look no farther. Excellent graphics.The freq range is 100KC trough 220MC in six bands with a 2% accuracy. The output is 50 ohms and the signal can be internally modulated with 400 cps. Now, this is not a lab quality instrument but is accurate enough to align vintage radios nicely. I restore radios as a hobby and use one just like it. The chassis and components are very clean. It is vintage test gear but I cleaned pots and aligned each band to spec. This is demonstrated with the photos. My frequency counter would not go into band F so I did not show the signal on it but it is good. Also notice the last photo that shows the modulated 400 signal. The waveforms show clean with no distortion. To check the calibrated output, just use a digital AM radio works well. Also, I am including ... morea NEW test lead and a schematic with operating instructions. The test lead is the same as original. Complete manuals are available on e-bay if you need one.
