It was designed as a compact, affordable instrument targeted at the semi-professional market. At the time of the FB-01's release, multi-timbral synths were still the exception rather than the norm. There is memory for 20 multi setups; each part of a multi setup can operate on any MIDI channel. And can be routed to either or both of the two outputs. The number of voices allocated to each part must also be specified; the FB-01 is 8-note polyphonic. There is only one LFO. The Moog Slayer Filter mod allows the user to alter the cutoff frequency and resonance with realtime control. This adds incredible lows and ultra highs to your sound. Be warned. It can scream and may cause speaker and even ear damage. Please use at your own responsible risk. Not that it will hurt you, but I feel that fair warning is appropriate. The FM-800 mod adds a touch of modulation to the sound which is adjusted by its own pot. Adds an interesting flavor if I do say so myself. The battery has been tested and is still above 3v so it is good. There is no unwanted static or noise from the controls. This is the desktop version of the Poly-800. Yamaha TX-81Z FM Tone Synth Module You are bidding on a Yamaha TX-81Z FM Tone Synth Module. The year is 1987. It was basically the module for the DX-11 synth. It is in great operational condition. Case has some scratches. It has some amazing bass sounds presets. I think the power of this unit is not in the presets but creating your own sounds. Other than that she works just fine. Power is a 2-prong 100V conection. Although I have used 100v stuff in USA/CAN. I recommend getting a step down converter(they are cheap at radio shack and so on. The TX-81Z is such a CLASSIC FM synth. I think they will be going up in value eventually as they are such a"genre" piece with deep unexplored modern potential once you get into the programming. The TX7 is essentially a non-rack-mountable desktop module form of Yamaha's FM synthesizer. Editing can not be done from the front panel. But must be accomplished externally via MIDI using either a DX7 keyboard, the PR-7 programmer or a computer. Software such as can be used to edit the parameters of the TX7. There are only 32 patches for storing any sounds as on the DX7. It's probably better to collect patches from the internet to expand your library of sounds since FM patch-editing is difficult enough on a professional DX synthesizer. Aside from its limitations.
