For sale is a lot consisting of utility pole or tree climbing gear. The spikes have a few different markings on them. The leather is stamped"F.H. Hall Linemen's Supply. Grove City, PA. Which is probably the retailer where they were purchased. The shaft by the spike says" Mine Safety Appliances Co. Pitteburgh, PA. MSA-Brooks Climber" The leather looks to be in good shape with no holes. Tears, cracks or rips. The spikes are extra sharp with no sign of filing or any gouges. The green and white saddle harness belt looks like it hasn't ever been used and is marked" Niemeyer Corp. Newton Sq. PA. 120 Small. There is a very faint mark beside it that reads"Apr 1988. The leather is in great shape with no cracks. Rips, or tears and everything looks like new. The leather belt in the last picture has the canvas belt that ... moregoes around the tree. The canvas belt has no marks on it. But the leather is marked"Belt. LC-23-E Size:20 R.H. Burke Co. 01-H-1771-63 B-259" It appears to be in bad condition at first glance. But after looking at it closer, it looks like it hasn't ever been worn because there are no marks or stress cracks in the belt where a buckle would have been bearing down on the leather. It just looks like it has been in storage or in someone's closet for a long time. But the leather could be cleaned up and would be in great shape. There are no holes, tears, or rips anywhere in the leather or canvas. I have no idea if it is safe to climb with these or not. I put them on one time and went outside to climb a tree. Very good condition Bashlin Set of Tree or Pole Climbing Spike or Gaffs with lower leather straps only(no upper) The leather is very old and stiff. But not broken yet. Not sure I would trust the straps? Could probably use heavy belts to serve the same purpose? They appear to be a heavy forged aluminum with steel for the spike, rivets, screws, buckles, and adjustable bracket. Measures as photoed 17" tall with 9 adjustments spaced 1/2" apart. Very good condition Buckingham tree spikes gaffs.This pair doesn't look like they have had much use. Leathers belts are good showing 2 of them with#22 and 2 with#24 impressed on them. Bolen leather leg protectors. 4646 imprinted on them. They don't appear to have seen much use either. They are still stiff from storage and little usage. Spikes are adjustable. Can be lengthened or shortened according to need. Main bar is 16" long before adding length. Lengthening bar is 7" which would allow for about 4" additional length. Very sturdy. Vintage Bashlin 16" Steel Tree Climbing Spikes This is a set of Vintage spikes probably date back to the mid 30's? Made proudly in Grove City PA. Patent#2016249. Granted Oct 1935. The leather"holsters" seem to be in ok condition. But the straps should be replaced for safety. The lower straps are not present, it looks like the previous owner used duct tape to attach to boots. The spikes look to be permanently mounted. And are in good condition. I don't know if people use these a lot. But I know they would make a wonderful addition to any rustic man cave wall, or up north cottage decor. The spikes measure 16" from top to bottom. And the boot section measures roughly 3 1/4" wide at its narrowest point. Please see pics for further details. I strive for 5 star feed back.
