Vintage Brass Water Meter Cap - Hersey - Dedham, MA - Converted to Container
Nifty old brass water meter cap that has been converted into a covered box by the Backwords Company of Missouri(tag attached) The cap measures roughly 1-1/4" tall. The lid is about 3" in diameter. While the base is roughly 2-7/8" in diameter. A metal plate has been added to the bottom and covered in green felt on both sides. The piece can now be used for display or to hold tiny treasures. The inside rim of the cap's base has a fabulous turquoise patina. There is also some surface rust. Both give evidence to the age of the item. The lid has the manufacturer's name, Hersey, as well as Dedham, Massachusetts. A real piece of history! Sale is final so please ask any questions you may have before you bid. Vtg Porcelain Copper Water Meter Face Dial Trident Indust Steampunk Brass Gears
Vintage Porcelain and Copper Water Meter Face with a moving dial. Brass gears and numbered gears! Made by the Neptune Meter Company of New York. It is a Trident model and measured cubic feet. The face is made of white porcelain with an underlying layer of copper which allowed the porcelain to adhere. The rest of the dial is made of brass. Including the small gears that turned the dial and numbers. The dial will turn when the gear on the bottom of the meter face is manually rotated! The porcelain face is beautiful but does have some of the porcelain missing.but the copper shows through and gives it some additional character. There are also some surface cracks and the porcelain face is loose as it sits on the brass base plate. There is a nail/ screw head which is a little loose that may tighten that face down. Neat industrial era, steampunk item! It has been wiped down with a damp cloth, so additional cleaning may be desired at your discretion.
