The Valve Lasher is an electric guitar overdrive effect from SoaringTortoise Electronics which is hand-made from 100% recycled materials. You can view a video demo of this effect at: The Valve Lasher is patterned after the TS-808. TS-9 Tube Screamer-style circuit minus the input and output buffer transistors and the electronic switching components. The overdrive features controls for Drive, Tone, and Level. The tone control works in a reverse fashion, brightening the tone when turned counter-clockwise. The unit has a true-bypass slide switch for switching the effect on and off and is powered by a single 9-volt battery which is switched on when a plug is inserted into the input jack. The Valve Lasher also features a socket for the dual op-amp IC so that it can be quickly changed with different brand op-amps. The unit comes with an SK 3465 ... moredual op-amp installed. I have had the chance to listen to the pedal with a vintage JRC4558D installed and it makes a slight difference toward the better though not really that noticeable. Many of the electronic components were sourced from a couple disco era stereo systems, as was the fine south-east Asian particle board used for the effect’s enclosure. The unit measures approx. 5 ½” x 4 5/8” x 3 ¾” tall including the knobs. The tone knob in the video is not the same as the knob shown in the listing pictures.
