I'm selling my Black Diamond Shadow L45 backpack. It is a alpine and ice climbing internal frame backpack geared towards the fast-and-light approach. I used it for one season daily for a variety of pure ice routes and for one alpine ascent. The pack does show signs of use with a couple of discolorations present. There is one abrasion about six inches above the pack name which should be depicted in the pictures I have included. The only other notable defect is a hole in the black kevlar-like material. This hole doesn't penetrate into gray fabric of the pack itself. So the waterproofing is still intact. Overall, the pack is in great shape and has many years of life left in it. This is a used Dana Designs M80 pack. Capacity is 2500 cubic inches. I've found it good for 30-35 pounds. It can carry more but its gets uncomfortable beyond 35. A great pack for rock. Ice, and alpine climbing, or just general hiking. I've done some skiing in it too. A little small for backpacking, but I have done some really light overnighters. The materials are super tough, unlike today's light weight(i.e. fall apart fast) materials. The suspension is incredible on this thing. They call it a size medium. I'm 6'1" and it works for me. the back is about 19 inches long. There are two defects. On the lower part of the left hipbelt there is a puncture caused by the old internal suspension rods. 1389g Carbon aero 38mm wheelset 700c Shimano 9 10 DATI climbing TT road race
I use my own Park Tool scale and measure this front wheel is alb 5oz = 595.34g. Rear is alb 12oz = 793.78g. Total weight is alb 1oz= 1389.1g. This retail $1200 from Asia and I paid $700 for it. I got it from a guy at Texas bike shop who build it with Taiwanese DATI hub and carbon rim. It is light weight and aero but I decide to give up full carbon wheel. I prefer the aluminum brake surface better. I descent horribly so I brake a lot and I don't like the feel of carbon rim and will stick with my Zipp 404. 303. In my opinion these felt just as good if not better than Zipp. This is sort of my way of trying to see if I like 38mm and carbon rim. I like the 38mm and just recently bought a front Zipp 303. I didn't like the 404 front catch so much wind descending. Wheels are in perfect true condition. I just had the shop tension, dished, ... moretrued it. Allen Albert of Westwood Bike Shop, NJ did the work. Rear wheel I had Juan of Carrera Bike Shop, Glen Rock, NJ replaced all nipple to brass nipple. I had pop one once and didn't want to have to deal with it again. That cost me $75 more. My loss is your gain. I am looking to unload this and save up for more cycling crap. Front wheel has 20 radial laces spokes. Bladed black spokes. Rim tap is on. I check it few times and I don't see any issue. I think these are ceramic bearing but I really don't remember. Rear wheel: 12 radial laced one side. 12 more laced two cross. Check the hub. It is almost new. I put in between 300-500 miles on these before I switch to Zipp 404 and American Classic Mag. I got 4 bikes and 3 wheelsets so didn't put in much on this. Rear hub is DATI. They are quiet style. No clicking sound like Zipp's. Should be ceramic bearings but I can't remember now. I did buy everything ceramic or replace them. Over all this is at least 9 out of 10 with new brass nipple on the rear, trued, tension, dished by local bike shop. This is a perfect backpack for day hikes; snowboarding; rock climbing; and backcountry telemark. Cross country or downhill skiing. The backpack is 2,000 cubic inches and has a number of great features to include: hydration pocket, large side water bottle pockets, side compression(load stabilization) straps, waist belt(which tucks away when not needed) zippered pocket on lid for quick access items and ski slots on the sides of the backpack. The Sweatpea utilities the Futura Ruck Frame and Yoke. Despite being a great size to hold everything to stay comfortable and safe while on foot or ski, the front"Stick It" pocket is great for holding a helmets or parka or two without eating up the 2,000 cubic inch capacity.
