Bought a Bell System canvas and leather bag and am listing sepoarately all the different stuff in the bag. These are made of metal and leather. They may be marked because if you look throught the holes of 1 strip of metal to the metal piece below(they are attached with screws) you can see letters and numbers. The R has side stitching missing. So does the L side-even more so. Plus 1 of the leather strips is broken. Both have yellow protectors on the points. Up for auction is a vintage heavy duty linemen's belt for climbing poles. It has a secondary belt riveted to it with places for tools in the back. On the right side it has a leather attachment for tools and on the left side is a canvas bag. It comes with the clip on belt for wrapping around the pole. There are also clips and metal rings on the belt. It needs a good cleaning.

VINTAGE POLE CLIMBING SAFETY TOOL BELT - BASHLIN SAFETY STRAP - BASHLIN SPIKES?
This is a vintage set of pole climbing equipment. The leather belt is 5" wide with some tool pouches& measures about 43" from the outside edge of the buckle to the last hole on the tongue strap& has heavy duty hardware. The Bashlin safety strap is 1 5/8" wide& looks to be more of a canvas with heavy duty snap locks. I believe the climbing spikes are also Bashlin but hard to make out the markings. They are about 17" long with good points& upper leather but missing the bottom strap. This set came from an estate sale& he was a retired from the phone co. I used some saddle soap on the leather but it's still old& a little stiff.

I am selling a pair of Gecko Aluminum Spurs with"American Short Gaffs. I bought these from Honey Brothers in the U.K. These are identical to the ones sold by Sherrill except the fiberglass pad reinforcement is black instead of red. I used them to climb a birch and an oak and they are in excellent condition. I never walked on any hard surfaces so the aluminum is in excellent condition. These are the most comfortable and lightest spikes I have ever climbed– I used to own buck titaniums and the Gekcos blow them away. Comes with a brand new Buckingham Gaff Sharpening kit.

Nice set of vintage climbing equipment. Buckingham Manufacturing Company Bell System Belt is leather with heavy duty buckle and rings for tree/ pole strap. Has built in tool holders. Metal reinforcement on belt has what appears to be brass fasteners. The backside of the buckle is imprinted with what appears to say Bell System and some other worn lettering- see photos. On the back of the belt is a brass tag that has some numbers and Buckingham. Tree/ Pole strap is leather with heavy duty snap hooks that snap onto rings on belt. Adjustable with heavy duty buckle. Spikes are heavy metal with leather padded pieces at the top. Points are sharp. Metal has signs of use with some minor twist in the metal- see photos. On the back of one of the spikes it says. good Klein Pole Climbing Spikes w/Bashlin Pads(Ga Power Lineman estate) Fresh estate find. Owner was a Georgia Power lineman. I have other gear from his estate listed. Klein spikes marked"17/ M. Klein& Sons Chicago/ cat. no 1901" This style has permanently attached spikes. These are certainly used but as the last photo shows still quite sharp and undamaged. The pads are marked Bashlin and have leather straps upper and lower. One of the lower straps has had the rivets at the buckle come out and they will need replacement(see the white twist ties in the photos) Please note that my only cleaning was a light wipe down(they will clean up a helluva lot nicer than they look now) 6 good photos to super-size and scrutinize so you'll be absolutely assured of the quality and condition. I don't see the mark on the spikes but I'm certain these are Buckingham. Adjustable heights and replaceable spikes and the frame is offset around the bottom of the foot. The spikes are fine and don't need replacement. Big advantage of this model is you can switch out the spikes for longer tree spikes. I'm not a lineman. I don't climb"poles" very often and the longer"tree" spikes are an absolute necessity(for trees, for me at least) The pads are in excellent condition and marked"Klein" and also"8210" for the model. This style has fiber straps upper and lower. I only wiped them down. They look dirty and tired ... morebut they are strong and in excellent condition and will be as pretty as you'd like after a good scrub and conditioning. 8 good photos to super-size and scrutinize so you'll be absolutely assured of the quality and condition. Bashlin climbing belt(tagged"size D23/ Code J" See photo 5) and the holes correspond to waist 38-46" with a removable Bashlin leather tool pouch; a wide green"tested Buhrke" adjustable fabric pole strap 1-3/4" x about 80" w/o buckles(buckles are coded"3040C Fe tested" a large canvas hanging bag; and a single piece hook and pair of 2" rings. I only wiped it all down to get the dust off. I expect you will clean and oil(or whatever you feel necessary) to make this all like you prefer. I found not a single instance that I thought was a safety concern(but I'm not a lineman.
