Very good condition Buckingham tree spikes gaffs.This pair doesn't look like they have had much use. Leathers belts are good showing 2 of them with#22 and 2 with#24 impressed on them. Bolen leather leg protectors. 4646 imprinted on them. They don't appear to have seen much use either. They are still stiff from storage and little usage. Spikes are adjustable. Can be lengthened or shortened according to need. Main bar is 16" long before adding length. Lengthening bar is 7" which would allow for about 4" additional length. Very sturdy. Up for auction one pair of Buckingham TB93089 replaceable gaff Tree Climbers. Climbers are Titanium in construction with a countoured. Straight stirrup configuration. Climbers have the standard adjustment sleeves. They include a pair of upgrade 3504C straight suede/nylon pads with hook and loop nylon cinch style straps. Climbers also have upgrade two piece impregnated nylon foot straps with buckles. Climbers have only been worn twice for two short climbs. And are otherwise brand new as can be seen in images. Gaffs are full OEM length and as sharp as they came out of the box. You will not find a cleaner set of used climbers out there. These climbers were purchased for $400, and another $175 for the pads. This Set of Aluminum Bashlin Climbing Gaffs plus Buckingham Belt are in good useable condition. The Bashlin aluminum Gaffs are in good shape and the leather straps are all there and the buckles all clasp together fine. This also has a Buckingham belt style 1314 that is a size medium. It has two different ropes with climbing clips. This is a used set and does have wear. All if it is still very useable and have more years left on it. Perhaps better to use as a pattern and make new straps. Saving the buckles could make it easier. In the lower left of my picture note the small foot strap is missing. In the upper right the long strap with holes has a bad spot right at the ring. Maybe cut and refasten over ring. Early Non-adjustable Bell System Buckingham Pole Utility Climbing Gaffs Hooks
Up for auction is one(1) set of two(2) original vintage utility pole climbing gaffs generally described as follows. Stamped along the main leg shank on both pieces: BELL SYSTEM- The Bell System was also generally known as the Bell Telephone Company. Size stamped on the shank as: 14-1/2 M Manufacture stamped as: BUCKINGHAM MFG CO. This particular style of climbing gaffs were an early made non-adjustable type. The later versions were manufactured with an adjustable leg shank. In addition the actual side mounted"hooks" were made as part of the climbers and not replaceable like later versions. Both climbers retain the original pointed hooks along with the upper and lower strap loops. Both climbers have the remains of the original"silvered" paint. Now primarily worn off. Measuring: 14 1/2" tall(adjusted shortest) by 7" wide by 1 1/2" deep at bottom of foot. Spikes measure 4 1/2" overall. One spur is adjusted a little longer and part of the identifying mark is visible. Will need some rust loosener to adjust the spur height. Overall no bends or cracks. Good shape for their age! This auction is for a set of M. Klein& Sons tree/pole climbing spikes complete with leather guards and straps. The length is adjustable and the spikes are replaceable. As seen in the photos. The overall condition is pretty decent; there was some rust(I cleaned most of it off) but everything looks good and is fully functional and safe. Up for bids is this set of climbing spikes/gaffs. The name on them is Melling Forging Co. Lansing Mich. and the patent number is 1956852. On the one the leather should be stitched and they are old but I do believe they could still be used. The leather straps still work and are stiff but pliable. Buckingham Tree/Pole Climbing Spikes Spurs 1 1/2" Gaffs Leather Padded SB9403 You are bidding on a pair of used but in working condition Buckinghame Tree/Pole climbing spurs/gaffs. This auction is for the spurs you see pictured with leg mount leathers only. There is nothing else included. Pictures are of actual items. The spur area and metal rod are marked Buckingham MFG Co. ASTM F887 No. SB9403 L 3 12. The leather portion is not marked with a brand or model. They show a normal of use with scuffs. Scratches, rust tarnishing on the metal but surprisingly they are holding up and are in working condition. No size is indicated. I measured from the spike from where it came out off the metal and got 1 1/2" Comes as pictured. The gaffs look to be replaceable but not adjustable.
