Vintage Bell Systems Buckingham Lineman Tree/Pole Climbing Spikes Full Set
This is a nice old vintage set of Bell Systems/Buckingham tree/pole climbing spikes. With the belt, harness, and bag to carry it all in. The spikes themselves are Bell/Buckingham, the leather leg straps are A.E. Burgess, and I believe the belt and harness are Klein-Buhrke. They are definitely used. But in perfectly usable shape. The harness obviously has more wear than anything due to the nature of its job. The spikes are in good shape-nice and sharp.with the caps. The belt has a tag that reads: Bell Systems"F Belt" Size 24. I'm not sure what the size code means. But it is 51" from tip to tip and fits my appx. 38" waist with ease. When buckled, there are still 5 notches left in the belt/8 more inches of room. Bag is pretty dusty/dirty. As it has been sitting in my shop for years. I bought these from a guy years ago, ... morebut have since decided that I am far too fat and accident prone to tempt fate. Vintage 1945 W.H. Buckingham Lineman Gaffs / Hooks / Spikes - Pole Climbing
Vintage W. H. Buckingham Lineman Hooks 1945 For auction is a nice collectable set of L& R lineman hooks produced by the W.H. Buckingham Mfg. Co. of Binghamton. N.Y. The left& right hook are both labeled with 15 1/4 F. Not sure what that means and I can barely make out the 1/4 so I am kind of guessing on that part. Please see the photos and form your own opinion as to what that means. The foot straps are also embossed with Buckingham Condition: The steel parts have some light surface rust. The copper rivets all look good. Some leather shows signs of leather rot. This is worst on the little strap that holds on the one gaff shield. It is very fragile. I did clean the leather up some and put some leather conditioner on it. It remains still very dirty from years of storage, but remarkably flexible for leather that is 68 years old. This is a collection of linesman's equipment. It consists of: 2 steel gaffs with padding and straps. 3 linesman's belts- one is made by Klein and has a number 5299 N22 and a size 37-45 and 2 other belts with no maker's name one of these is larger than the Klein and one is smaller. The Klein is in the best condition but the other two are serviceable 2 tree or pole climbing straps. All of the items are used and have been in storage. But are in pretty good shape.

Buckingham 9225 Climbing Set Climber Spikes Gaffs w/New Klein Leg Straps
Buckingham 9225 climber set. One sliding section on one gaff might be from an older pair(pictures) it has some paint loss and more dings than the rest of the metal- otherwise the gaffs have a few scratches and a few small rust spots. The leg straps are Klein and appear to have not been used. The foot straps have no name but also look unused. Gaff points can be replaced by driving out a pin. Nice set of vintage climbing equipment. Buckingham Manufacturing Company Bell System Belt is leather with heavy duty buckle and rings for tree/ pole strap. Has built in tool holders. Metal reinforcement on belt has what appears to be brass fasteners. The backside of the buckle is imprinted with what appears to say Bell System and some other worn lettering- see photos. On the back of the belt is a brass tag that has some numbers and Buckingham. Tree/ Pole strap is leather with heavy duty snap hooks that snap onto rings on belt. Adjustable with heavy duty buckle. Spikes are heavy metal with leather padded pieces at the top. Points are sharp. Metal has signs of use with some minor twist in the metal- see photos. On the back of one of the spikes it says. LC-5 17 IN. 36525- PHILA- 43 On the back of the other spike it says. LC-5 17 IN. 9868- PHILA- ... more44 Both spikes say. W. H. Buckingham Mfg. Co.
