Vintage Bell Buckingham Telephone Utility Pole Climbing Spikes Spurs Gaffs Line
The following auction is for a vintage set of Bell Climbing spikes. They are used. They are quite dirty and surface rusty. They need cleaned up. The spikes although dirty. Seem to be in decent shape. The leather pieces and straps they attach to are in pretty sad shape. They are flexible but look dry rotted and weak. I don't think I would just strap these on and climb a pole. The metal would be fine,but the leather is wore and dry. On the metal spike part they are marked WE07890 Bell System-C Buckingham MFG Co. Then it says something NY. I am not sure how to measure them but at their longest point they would be 18 inches from spike to top of the metal tip. They can be adjusted maybe an inch or two. I think they leather would clean up.But the leather strapping is pretty beat. The one leather strap was replaced with a newer vinyl looking ... morestrap. They are marked left and right. Buckingham 9225 Climbing Spikes Gaffs Lineman Tree Climbing Trimming Gear
This tree trimming equipment was owned by my grandfather who did tree work in the 1980's. They have been in storage since the mid 1990's. This is quality leather equipment made mostly by Buckingham Co. There are 2 sets of tree climbers one he used the other has not been used they are both Buckingham 1225 the metal is 14 1/2 inches long. There are 2 tree straps that are 79 inches long. 1 has been used the other still has the paper tags from Buckingham still intact. There are 4 Buckingham model 3922, again 1 set used the other not. There are 8 straps that are 23 inches long. All equipment has been stored in the basement and is in good condition. You are welcome to do a local pick up.
