One of which has a missing eyelet. With the tip the rod measures 106 in. There are some chunks out of the reel grip but do not effect the integrity of the grip. Comes in a Penn 209M box(I don't think its the original box? Also comes with a Penn wrench, owners manual, reel schematic sheet, parts list, brochures, a clamp, two extra pawls, and two handles! Wow. This is a nice reel that functions properly with all operations checked. The reel has a nice appearance with storng markings on red side plates. The reel has seen some use so there are light abrasions on the plated components with some light oxidation on the side plates. There is also a little wear on the upper edge of the inner right side rings. The line guide shield also has some cleaned corrosion. Despite the cosmetic concerns. This is a great old reel that is suitable for fishing or adding to a vintage tackle collection. Penn Peer 209 Level Wind, Bakelite Sideplates, Fully Serviced and Excellent Cond
This is a beautiful Penn Peer 209 level wind reel. I got this reel from a friend and it was in excellent condition. So I decided to pull it completely apart. Buff all internal parts so the are extremely smooth operating, clean all parts and apply new grease(Cal's Custom reel grease and Daiwa Hot Stuff oil) It now operates exceptionally smooth. The drag is very smooth and strong. Cosmetically this reel would be a 10 with the exception of a little pitting on the spool sides that buffed out very well but is not completely gone and just a tiny bit of chrome is missing on the front of the line guide(see the pictures) All in all this is a beautiful reel that will be a nice addition to your collection or throw line on it and it will fish as well as reels costing many times more.
