But its too big for my needs. I did lubricate it when I got it and everything seems to work. Including the drag. Clicker is very loud. There is some pitting and some pretty good size scoring of the bakelite sides. I have tried to capture all of that accurately on the photos's. It has a vintage wood green handle The line is fresh mono- 25lb I believe. Do to age and history of this reel please consider this sale completely as-is. I have never used one so I will tell you what I see and the pictures will have to speak for it also. The reel appears to be missing a cap screw on the side opposite the handle. To rewind the line the‘star’ piece beneath the handle must be tight. And then it makes a‘clicking’ sound. If the‘star’ is not in this position the spindle does not rotate. Maybe this is normal. Move the silver‘arm’ in one direction and it allows the handle to spin freely. Move back to other position and handle will again turn spindle. The yellow knob can rotate but it is very stiff. Condition: You have a missing cap. Surface scratches, maybe some pitting, other than that reel looks to be clean ... moreand useable. Two Spools for PENN 500 jigmaster saltwater fishing reel Bakelite and Aluminum
Two Penn spools that fit the Jigmaster 500. One Aluminum and One Bakelite. Both in great condition with only a couple of small nicks on the extreme outside edge of the aluminum spool that would be inside the reel anyway. I also scribbled stuff on the ends like dates and line strength. If you want to win a CASTING CONTEST. This bakelite spool is for you! Nothing ever made is lighter that this spool and it will make you look like an absolute GENIUS casting jigs or whatever. The only problem with these spools is that they WILL fail if you wind the line back on the reel too tight. If you don't fill the spool to the top with line and are careful how you put the line on while fighting a fish, you can make it last. I've broken several, so I know!

I would have listed this reel as new but I'm not sure what I did with the reel clamp so I'm listing it as used even though it's never been fished. They(the clamps) are readily available for less than $10.00. This reel is pristine inside and out. Awesome jigging reel. Very reliable and durable. Aluminum spool. Solid brass gears.
