Up for bid is a PENN SURFMASTER no. 250 in GOOD used condition with a small amount of tarnish. But looks and reels like new. Nice and smooth, and it even has some mono already loaded. In order for me to assure the accuracy of my description I personally have gone over this reel and done a thorough inspection. Cleaned and oiled if necessary to make sure that all is working properly and ready for you to use right out of the box. I am selling some of my brothers reels for him as he is no longer able to use them because of medical conditions. Because they are all still in great shape he wanted to pass them on for someone else to be able to use and enjoy fishing with them as much as he did. Cosmetically the reel is in very good condition with nice black side covers and bright plated components. The only cosmetic concerns are minor abrasions to the side covers and plated components. Offered in this listing is a late 1940's Penn Surfmaster 250 Quick Take Down Surf Reel. The Penn Surfmaster was Penn's answer to a high quality affordable surf reel. The Penn 250 was the largest of the Surfmaster series. Introduced in 1940 in five different versions. The Surfmaster was an immediate success and had a very long history of production at Penn. Sometimes called the"Poorman's Squidder" the Surfmaster offered all the important features any surf fisherman needed at half the price of the Penn Squidder with five different configurations of size and features. The Model 250 being the top end of the Surfmaster series. The package in this listing is complete except for the catalog. This package was sold by Penn at the same exact price in the same box from 1946 to 1950. This time period was a transitional time period ... morefor Penn. Part numbers were starting to show on some models. The reel in this sale has one numbered part. The tail plate spool bearing has a part number while all the other parts on this reel have no numbers. By the early 1950's Penn had incorporated part numbers onto most of their parts but the late 1940's was a mixed bag of some parts with numbers and some parts without. Even the spare spool in this package is not numbered. Included here is a very nice used Penn Surfmaster 250 reel. It operates smooth and fast. Breaks down very easy and snaps back together in a flash. This reel is in very good condition. There is some spotting on the chrome but for the most part this is a very presentable reel. Other items included are as seen in the pictures. An original reel wrench(correct for the 1940's era) A rod clamp assembly(era correct) correct lubricant, 1940's Penn plastic sting closer reel storage bag and of course the original box. The lower portion of the box has a vinyl tape around the base. The internal parts of this reel are also a material mix. Showing a German Silver bridge assembly with brass controls. Offered in this listing is a pre-war Penn Long Beach 60. It shows its age but is mechanically fine. I took this reel apart and cleaned and checked all internal parts. It has been reassembled. Lubed and adjusted to its proper operating specs. It runs very smooth and fast with good drags and a good clicker. Cosmetically the reel has some chrome loss. Spotting and scratches on the plates. The Torpedo handle knob is the wood type, which is a bit harder to find than the standard Katalin/ plastic knob. I will NOT ship by first class international mail unless I get a statement stating the buyer waives any claims arising from slow delivery. Or item lost during shipment. No exceptions! Winning international bids without this statement will be ignored. I will not falsify the value of the item or the contents of the package on the customs forms- the actual sales price of the item is what goes on the form and the buyer is responsible for any duties or tariffs that may apply. No exceptions. No Returns on items shipped international. These extra international costs and policies should be considered before you bid.
