This is an original Seth Thomas Octagon Top Mantel Clock. Clock works and so does the gong. Gongs on the hour. Key is included for winding. Label is inside front door. Walnut veneer is in generally good condition. Just a couple of nicks at the bottom. The theme on the glass is dragons.

Maple wood veneer 35" x 24" with wood backer. This is a used piece and there are some kind of lines in the face of the wood which are visible in pictures. Back side a little rough. But we will sand it down so it is usable. Would have to be for the right project/use as it is a little rough on the back. About pictures: Most pictures have been temporarily wet on the lower portion of the veneer to show what the grain may look like when finish is added. Color adjustments have been made to show the color as best as is possible. It is impossible to get photos exactly correct in color. But we have made an effort to do so. RARE SILAS HOADLEY OG CLOCK, SUPERB CONTRASTING MAHOGANY VENEER CASE, 1840'S
SILAS HOADLEY OG SHELF CLOCK. EXCELLENT CONDITION This is probably the finest OG clock I have ever owned. I say this for several reasons: 1. Silas Hoadley and the quality of his clocks and clock movements are well known among clock collectors(see a short bio of him at the end of this ad) He is better known for his tall clocks with wood movements and for shelf clocks that contain his unique style of wood movements(alarm and upside down. For example) His OG clocks are less known as I suspect he did not make many of these after essentially being forced to transition his movement making from wood to brass due to the introduction of cheap brass clock movements by the Jerome brothers. His OG movement is different from that of other makers although the differences are subtle. This movement is known as a Type 2.61(according to Snowden Taylor's ... moreexcellent article titled"The Noble Jerome Patent 30 Hr. Brass Weight Movement and Related Movements" Silas was the only clockmaker to use this movement and this is likely the first brass movement(out of 3 types known) that he made as described by Snowden in his article. Two of the subtle differences include the arched pieces on the front plate and the threaded posts with nuts used to hold the movement together. The movement was running fine but with the usual caveat of no guarantees after shipping. 2. The case contains some of the most interesting contrasting veneer that I have ever seen on a clock of this period. The dark red veneer on the sides and the outline of the case and door is the typical Santo Domingo or Cuban Mahogany found on many American clocks made in the early to mid-1800's. In contrast to this the OG molding contains a gold colored veneer that is often called Blonde or White Mahogany. The species is not Mahogany; more likely it is Primavera but I am not absolutely certain. Whatever the species. It is a very unusual combination to be seen on an American clock of this period. 3. Very Nice Looking Antique Seth Thomas Marbleized Adamantine Celluloid Mantel Shelf Clock. This clock appears to be fully restored and looks perfect. It appears somebody in Raleigh NC restored this work of art in 1999 and dated it as such on the bottom. I do not know the mechanical condition of this piece. It appears complete with the proper movement, bell and pendulum are present as well as the key. The clock runs and dings as it should however I couldn't get it level so it would stop running. Up for sale is a vintage 6.5 X 14 Sonor Phonic Rosewood veneer snare drum. This is not a re-issue model from the last few years- I bought this in 1981 and I am the original owner. It's a versatile drum and as is typical with Sonor. It's a well constructed drum. I used it for that classic"fat" snare sound of the early 80's- think of the Steve Smith Journey sound. It captured that sound amazingly and recorded flawlessly. I take extremely good care of all my equipment and this was also treated gently. It is in very. Very good used condition with only what I consider to be normal signs of wear for a drum that's over 30 years old. There's some minor pitting on the hardware but as you can see it still cleans up well. The finish is in excellent shape with no major marks or scratches. This beautiful ornate antique Japanese jewelry box is likely to be from the Meiji and/or Victorian period. Wonderful geometric mosaic parquetry veneer on front and top. Front of doors has detailed inlaid brass birds and flowers. Ornate metal hinges and handles. Inside has black lacquered and hand painted doors and drawers. The back and sides are even hand painted. This is a very special piece with lots of attention to detail. Left door has drop latch into floor of box to help it from opening when moving it. Measures 11 1/2" by 8 1/2" by 4 1/2" Parquet lifting a little on top at star shape. Scratch on right top door. Missing hardware piece at top right door and nail missing for similar piece at bottom of door. Lacquer damage to left inside door near hinges and inside panel in same area. Minimal paint loss. Vienna Acoustics Strauss (Beech veneer)
This is a pair of Vienna Acoustics Strauss. I purchased them. Used, on Audiogon in December 2010. They are in wonderful condition, both sound wise and cosmetically. These are finished in Beech. They are, very honestly, in wonderful condition. The two blemishes are show in the photos. I have truly tried to remove the black by one of the tweeters. I suspect that it rubbed off of the backing on the grill. I haven't sold anything on Ebay. But I have completed 15 transactions on Audiogon with a 100% satisfaction score. The nut bowl has been in the family for as long as I can remember so that would be the early 1950s. Pounding block is 1 ½” diameter metal· The outside is diameter 8 ¾” at the widest point· The inside diameter is 7 ½” including the pounding block· Mallet is about 8 ½” long· Condition: The set shows some wear. NEW ENGLAND, Probably New Hampshire, Circa 1810-1830 IN NEAR PERFECT CONDITION AND THE BEST ORIGINAL SURFACE. Classic Sheraton turnings on the legs. The feet are fully intact and all original. Great dovetailed drawer construction. Single one board top with its original drop leaves which retain an early rule joint edge and both of its original leaf supports as well as its original hinges. The leafs are perfectly straight. The two front drawers have very fancy Mahogany Veneers. The top drawer is a simple flat front. The bottom has a very rare waterfall shaped ... moredrawer. Both have hand planned pine bottoms, dovetailed construction and every one of its original square headed nails. One of the turned wooden knobs on the top drawer is original as well. The surface is the very best. All original. The piece has a painted and stained"Mahoganized" surface. Often on country pieces(where they were trying to imitate the more costly urban examples) they would veneer the drawer fronts with fancy veneers and then paint the rest of the table which was made in a native wood such as birch or maple to imitate the more expensive mahogany. The Drop leaves are straight with no warping. The hinges are original as is every hand made screw holding on the top. ALL THE NAILS ARE HAND WROUGHT SQUARE HEADED EXAMPLES. Great old color underneath. A WONDERFUL"COUNTRY" VERSION OF A MORE FORMAL DESIGN. Typical wear associated with the age of the item. There is some very minor veneer losses on the left front facade near the drawer as shown in the photos. 28 1/2" tall. Which sits on a carved part-fluted and turned column with tripod legs. 20-1/4 inches tall. The v eneer is completely intact and polishes up nicely with wax polish but requires French polishing for a perfect finish. A beautiful small table.

It is a lovely wooden footstool, with a very dark wood, possibly ebony or ebonised wood, veneer, with gilt scrollwork and decoration, topped with a padded footstool with embroidery and beaded patterns stitched into it. It is not in the greatest of condition- the wool fabric has worn away from the mesh, although hints of its original vibrant red colour remain, some beads are missing and stitching coming loose. 1902 Chemico Wood, H. J. Herbert simulated bark veneer brush w/ Sterling Silver
Please examine photos. They are THIS item and are part of the description. I do not use stock photos or photos of other people’s items. This is a brush made by the Chemico Wood Company of Detroit Michigan with a Patent Date of Jan. 14. 1902. According to the US Patent Office there were 447 patents issued that day. I did not go through all of them but early on I found a similar patent for a"Simulated Bark Veneer" backed mirror invented by H.J. Herbert for the Company. This brush was probably part of a vanity set with said mirror. The bristles I would think are horse hair but I do not know. Attached and perhaps original is a detailed Sterling Silver medallion suitable for engraving and initial. It is decorated with a lily pad, a flower and seed pods. The brush is about 6.5" long.
