Federal Server 3 Drawers Mahogany Veneer Square Tapered Legs Key C. 1875
Stunning period server. Fresh out of a local New England estate. The piece sits on four lightly tapered square legs. There are three drawers, as well as a gorgeous Mahogany top. The largest drawer features a pierced backplate. And has its original key. The locking mechanism still works. The backplate is surrounded by Neoclassical ring pulls, in a gold tone, which are repeated on each of the smaller drawerfronts. The server is in good estate condition. There is some staining to the legs. As well as a few nicks from wear. The drawers slide smoothly in and out, and feature hand finished dovetail construction, supported by small nails. The veneer has some wear to it, and there is a crack by the backplate of the largest drawer. This is purely cosmetic, and does not affect the structural integrity of the piece. Measures 31" in height and 33 ... more1/2" in width. Depth is 17" This server has wonderful classic styling. Which translates well. We are listing it for sale as a'local pickup' only piece. MAHOGANY VENEER OFFICE DESK Vintage 8 DRAWER WOOD Colonial Victorian Bahamian
A vintage Wood Desk with eight(8) Drawers. We are pleased to present this vintage Desk for your consideration. Made of solid Wood. The Desk has a Mahogany Veneer exterior with a beveled edge around the top surface. The oval shaped metal Drawer Pulls are original and coated with a dark finish. Eight(8) Drawers provide plenty of storage space, including a double height drawer on the right side at the bottom. Quality construction details are typical, including dovetail joints on the Drawers. The Desk measures 29-1/2 inches high. 45 inches wide, and 21-1/2 inches deep. We did not find any marks that identify the manufacturer. In quite good condition. The Desk has a few minor issues. The veneer has peeled in a few small spots, mostly along the back edge(see the last picture for a close up) A few of the Drawer stops are not working on the right ... moreside(which permits the Drawers to go in too far) but this is easily repaired. Typical age appropriate wear is found to the wood surfaces, with scattered bumps and minor dings, most having a dark patina from age. Overall, there are no serious problems, and we rate the overall condition as very good(see pictures) This is a very functional Desk. With plenty of varied storage space, and ready to be used as-is. Solid/Veneer Mahogany Huntboard/Sideboard, Custom Made, Very Good to Excellent
Here is a custom-made(bench-made) mahogany huntboard/sideboard in a rich. Dark mahogany finish. The piece is very well made, with a panel on each end and lovely trifid feet on the front. The piece is 66" long, 21" deep, and 33" high. It has been well cared for, but a small chip in the veneer at the left front corner has been repaired; a real woodworker could make it virtually invisible. In the center on the right side, there is a tiny chip in the veneer. The finish on this piece is very fine-not furniture-store or piano-top slick, but handrubbed to show the grain of the wood. Please note the fine banding on the drawer fronts. I hate to part with this piece. But it's too large for my space. I'm not equipped to ship it, but TSC Movers(tscmoving.com) will give a fair price for shipping. Listing the piece(for free) on uShip ... moremay bring a real bargain for delivery; there are many private shippers who will economically blanket-wrap furniture and deliver it to your door. This sideboard/huntboard was clearly made by a skilled woodworker. I suspect that he(she? may have become ill and unable to finish it; that would account for the two tiny nicks on the top. Henredon dresser - Solid Mahogany with a Walnut Veneer - circa 1970's
Henredon dresser that is structurally sound- tight and sturdy. But needs restoring and refinishing. It is from Henredon's Folio Eleven collection(item# 1-8100) and dates from between 1972 and 1981. This great dresser features mixed wood construction and is made of solid Mahogany with a Walnut veneer and the finish is called Cloiser. The dimensions are 62"X30"X19" It has six wide drawers with slots for dividers(dividers not included) and has great original brass pulls which have a nice natural patina. Fine Federal American Mahogany w/ Flamed Birch Veneer Card Table, New England
Federal Mahogany and Flamed Birch Veneer Card Table New England. Probably North Shore Area, Massachusetts c. 1790-1810 The top is crafted of a solid board of mahogany. Rectangle in overall form with a soft curvature to the front lined along the edges with dual-bands of satinwood stringer inlay. It is hinged at the corners, both hinges original, the top lifting fully to lower upon a green-felt padded outward swinging rear leg. The facade of the table conforms to the top, bowing gently along to square at the corners. At the centermost is an oval flamed-birch veneer surrounded by mahogany veneers flanked by rectangular birch selections. The corners are also highlighted with rectangular patches of birch framed by thin ebonized edges with visually complex alternating lines of inlay. The sides are equally crafted of flamed-birch, each moving in ... morethe same direction and of a single piece of birch. Beneath the veneered edges and face of the table is a half-diamond repeating inlaid edging. The table rests over tapered square legs, each beautifully framed in satinwood stringer inlay. The underside of the table is fully original. All blocks remaining intact with original glues and generally showing an undisturbed surface. Hand forged iron rose head nails as well as the original hand cut screws are still securing the underside, all generally undisturbed. The secondaries appear to be New England White Pine, making up the remarkably thick frame, knuckle joint and swinging leg. The table joins with large hand cut dovetails at the back corners, one visible when the gating leg swings outward. Within the oxidization are faintly visible inscribed letters, though at this point they are illegible. This is a very handsome piece in rare condition. Remarkably preserved in every aspect. It is the work of an artisan, perfectly formed with strong clean lines and flawless inlays. It is a wonderful find for any serious collector of New England works of furniture. The frame itself measures 14 5/8" X 18 3/4" and the inside dimentions are 10 1/4" X 14 1/4" and will hold a 10" X 14" picture. What is in there now is an original Family Register by N. Currier. It reads on the bottom of the lithograph"Lith. Pub. By N. Currier Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1853, by N. Currier, in the Clerks Office of the District Court of the Southern District of N. Y. 152 Nassau Street N. Y. As one can see from the 2nd photo there is water damage to the bottom of the lithograph. Up for Auction are three Amazing mahogany& walnut cabinet doors. Two doors have a center panel that is antique pressed(I believe walnut) wood with crotched book matched walnut veneer panels above and below. The third door has three panels of crotch book matched walnut veneer panels. The doors are constructed of mahogany(spanish cedar) with walnut trim. The backing is a smooth plywood cabinet grade. These doors are a custom design incorporating salvaged antique materials. Reclaimed and new wood from Whitmer Design Studio. These doors have never been used and are new although they incorporated antiques materials in the design. They have not been finished- except for the antique panel that was kept in its found state. The two antique paneled doors are prepped for SOSS 216E invisible hinges- see pictures. This auction does include 2 pairs ... moreof the SOSS hinges to mount(2) doors. Antique Turned 5 1/2" Mahogany Bowl with Geometric Veneer Band Inlay.
Beautiful 5 1/2" antique hand turned mahogany wood bowl. It has a geometric veneer inlay band around the outside of the bowl. The piece is 5 1/2" wide x 2 1/8" tall. Opening at the top of the bowl is 4 1/2" Retains the same fine finish it had when I purchased it decades ago. Green felt has a small piece missing. Otherwise the felt and bowl are in very good condition. There are no cracks, scratches or splits in the wood. Great for trinkets, storing change, cuff links, etc. No reserve! Very Fast Handling! Antique 19th Century Seth Thomas Mahogany Veneer Mantel Clock Works Great!
This is a fantastic clock. There is patina on the brass and the dial has suffered some corrosion which has leached through the enamel. The hands are a little rusty and the minute hand fits a little loose around the shaft. But it keeps perfect time and sounds nice and mellow when is strikes. RARE SILAS HOADLEY OG CLOCK, SUPERB CONTRASTING MAHOGANY VENEER CASE, 1840'S
SILAS HOADLEY OG SHELF CLOCK. EXCELLENT CONDITION This is probably the finest OG clock I have ever owned. I say this for several reasons: 1. Silas Hoadley and the quality of his clocks and clock movements are well known among clock collectors(see a short bio of him at the end of this ad) He is better known for his tall clocks with wood movements and for shelf clocks that contain his unique style of wood movements(alarm and upside down. For example) His OG clocks are less known as I suspect he did not make many of these after essentially being forced to transition his movement making from wood to brass due to the introduction of cheap brass clock movements by the Jerome brothers. His OG movement is different from that of other makers although the differences are subtle. This movement is known as a Type 2.61(according to Snowden Taylor's ... moreexcellent article titled"The Noble Jerome Patent 30 Hr. Brass Weight Movement and Related Movements" Silas was the only clockmaker to use this movement and this is likely the first brass movement(out of 3 types known) that he made as described by Snowden in his article. Two of the subtle differences include the arched pieces on the front plate and the threaded posts with nuts used to hold the movement together. The movement was running fine but with the usual caveat of no guarantees after shipping. 2. The case contains some of the most interesting contrasting veneer that I have ever seen on a clock of this period. The dark red veneer on the sides and the outline of the case and door is the typical Santo Domingo or Cuban Mahogany found on many American clocks made in the early to mid-1800's. In contrast to this the OG molding contains a gold colored veneer that is often called Blonde or White Mahogany. The species is not Mahogany; more likely it is Primavera but I am not absolutely certain. Whatever the species. It is a very unusual combination to be seen on an American clock of this period. 3. Antique Empire Dresser, mahogany, mirror veneer, 19th century, good condition
An Empire Bureau. Or chest of drawers made of mahogany in the early half of the 19th century. This is a grand piece of furniture that would look great in any large space-hallway, large master bedroom, dining room. We had it in our hallway in a 1803 house in upstate New York. There are four large drawers and three small drawers at the top. The largest drawer is directly below the three small top drawers, consistent with the style. Drawer fronts are a mirror veneer, rest of the wood is solid. The drawer pulls are brass. This is a solid, well-built dresser. It is heavy. It stands about 52 inches high, is about 47 inches wide and about 21 inches deep. The drawers are about 16 inches deep. The finish is in relatively good condition; there are scrapes, scuffs, nicks and scratches but it would not necessarily need to be refinished. There is a crack ... morein the wood on one of the sides(visible in photo) The drawer slides could use some repair work, but the drawers function. I believe that the dresser is from the early half of the 19th century because the nails used on the back boards are type I cut(photographed) The back boards are soft wood with a rich brown patina on the back, the part exposed to air. This lovely fireplace screen is made of mahogany veneer. With red brocade fabric used on the middle sections, sides and top. There are actually 3 sections to the screen, 1) the main middle section; 2) brocade panels pull out from both sides. Please see pictures, as words cannot adequately describe this rare and lovely piece of furniture. This piece came from an estate in Holly Springs. MS, and is definitely vintage. It is showing some signs of age in the brocade; although it is definitely red right now, I imagine it started life as a deep crimson color. There are some chips in the veneer that could be easily concealed. Please see the pictures, I have tried to capture each chip so that you can know exactly what you are bidding on. I have removed the non-original wrap to expose the mahogany veneer factory shell exterior. Although most of the glue residue has been removed. The tom will still need some additional refinishing. There are some marks. Scratches or scrapes on the shell exterior from use. There are some marks and nicks on the bearing edges. The marks are mostly on the bottom edge. This tom had probably been played without the bottom rim for awhile years ago. Please read description. Small Antique Mid 19th Century Mahogany Veneer Frame Lemon Gold Gilt Liner
This is a small antique mid-19th century period mahogany or possibly rosewood veneer frame with a lemon gold gilt liner. It dates from around the 1840s to 1850s. And possibly earlier. It has a lovely old finish. But given its age. It has a number of small imperfections. But the overall look is quite beautiful. Overall. The frame measures 6 3/4 inches by 10 9/16 inches(17.2 cm x 26.8 cm) The back opening size is 4 7/8 inches by 8 3/4 inches(12.4 cm x 22.2 cm) The molding width measures 1 5/8 inches(4.3 cm) The frame itself is very thick at 1 3/8 inches(3.5 cm) The issues: there is a slight separation at each of the corners where the wood meets. It has a tiny dent in the top left-hand corner of the frame. It has numerous light scratches on it. But the veneer is fairly thick so they still look dark. There is an approximately 1/4 inch by 1/8 ... moreinch chip in one corner of the frame. Next to it are some dents and small scratches(please see photos) The liner is worn at places and the gray is showing through. It has half of the original hanging piece on the back. But is missing the ring part. You can see the sheets of gilding on the liner. The liner has a tiny chip in one corner and two in another corner(please see photos) I believe there was glass at the front. Then something sitting in it, and then a back to keep it in place, forming a shadowbox(please see photo) The back itself is made deep by an additional layer of wood attached to it. I've secured the liner in place with frame staples. It has its original wavy and bubbled glass. But it has some scratches and scuff marks to it. It would be great for an old oil painting. Drawing, folk art work, sampler, fraktur, silhouette, etc. It weighs just over 1 pound(454 g) It has what I always look for in frames. That wonderful old world look! This early 19th century mirror measures 15" high x 13" wide and is made with two separate mahogany veneered frames. The inside frame having a nice beveled surface. The two frames are held together using square nails and the hanger on top is made of brass. Condition: a couple small nicks to veneer. The largest being 1/4" and located at top right corner; some bruises and small cracks on wooden frame but nothing distracting from its overall look; the brass hanger is original though it was moved at one time because it loosened up; mirror was replaced and shows some cloudiness. Nice. Usable Empire or Classical Revival foot stool from the middle of the 19th century. The veneer is in great shape, there is just a small, old, loss to one of the feet which isn't visible from the outside. The needle work, is probably 2nd generation as the tacks look to be late 19th century. All of the colored wool yard is gone leaving the outline of the design which is still attractive the way it is. Absolutely stunning immaculate dry erase board. This came out of a huge board room and was rarely used so there are no marks. Scuffs, discolorations on the beautiful shiny dry erase board. The casing is perfect on the three visible sides, the top of the cabinet does have very minor marking from hanging though the company paid someone come and restain the couple of scratches. The cabinet can be turned over also so if you wanted to hang it low you could put that side down. There is also a tiny chip on the very top of the door which is not visible when hung and has also been restained. There are NO scratches or marks on the beautiful doors inside or out so it looks virtually new! The piece is 48" wide, 50" tall and 6 1/2" deep! I bought this stool at an estate auction in Virginia about 20 years ago. And just loved its unusual shape. The wood looks to be flame veneer mahogany over pine. There is no label or marks so this is just a guess. But it looks like one of theirs. The only desk I can find by Mummerthaler and Meier is newer from the 1950s. Ogee-type turn of 18th c. mahogany veneer mirror
This is a beautiful mirror from the late 1700s-early 1800s. I've actually had it on one of my walls for the past few years. And am only letting it go because I'm replacing it with an actual ogee mirror that's 3 times its size. It has a gorgeous, warm, lustrous mahogany frame with great patina. At one time. It would have had some sort of crest at the top, which is now gone, revealing the cross-shaped mounting holes where it had been. In place, the holes aren't noticeable. The same applies to the strange scratches that I just noticed on the edge of one of the sides(in photo) which could probably be largely smoothed over w/ some paste wax(I hate to suggest such things, but it's true) It's only a stretch of a couple inches on one side close to the corner. I took a last photo with my phone to show that. As with all such ... moremirrors, the silver isn't perfect anymore. The dark areas in that photos are dark areas that don't reflect an image as well. That funny triangle in the corner is a reflection of something, though. The mirror worked well enough for me. but I'll suffer for fashion(and the integrity of a 200-year-old mirror) You won't find one of these every day. Help me find it a good home.
