Vtg 3" Cabinet/Veneer Scraper & Molding What-zit
For Sale: Vintage Cabinet/Veneer Scraper& a What-zit. The scraper: The scraper base is about 11-1/4" long by 3-7/8" wide by 1-1/4" thick. And appears to be made of(2) pieces joined lengthwise capturing the handle between them. The rear of the(2) pieces are separating. Will need gluing, or perhaps drill, countersink, and use a Stanley tote stud and a couple of tote stud brass nuts to create an esthetically pleasing repair. The mouth is 3-1/8" wide. So by common practice, I think it used a 3" wide blade. The blade is missing. But I believe vintage'Warranted Superior' hand saw blades make inexpensive replacements. The blade angle is 20-degrees. The top is tilted toward the front, ergo it is a scraper. It appears it once had a front handle. But that is gone. The What-zit: I have no idea if this is a stand-alone ... moretool. Or part of a tool, you can see its size compared to the scraper. It has(2) blades. The outer blade isn't tall enough to be used as it is mounted, perhaps it was to be flipped and used on its present end, or used on the other end of the bolt. The exposed blade suggests it was used to create a molding. But I really have no idea, maybe it's just an armpit scratcher, it appears way too big to be a nose-pick. Drum roll. Rim shot! Both speaker cabinets have been fully recovered in new walnut veneer stained and resealed with Minwax polyurethane. Speakers are in excellent condition feet I've been placed on the bottoms of the cabinets to limit damage. A nice old new set of speakers. Amazing Rare MARTIN SPEAKERS 1973 Vintage Custom Wood Veneer LOOK! Audiophile NR
This is a rare pair of MARTIN SPEAKERS made in August of 1973. These are true audiophile quality speakers which are in perfect running condition and sound magnificent. While the electronics and wood cabinets were top grade. The original veneer was a thick faux wood which had separated from the cabs when I found them. I carefully removed it and replaced it with a nice new veneer of genuine wood. I did not stain or oil them because I like the"Danish modern" look of the light colored wood, but you can put on any color stain you prefer, or simply oil them for the look you want. I'd suggest a very light once over with fine sandpaper to remove any fingerprint oil and a thorough dusting of the surfaces to remove any ingrained dust particles prior to staining. I've been running these on a top-of-the-line vintage Sherwood S-110CP ... morethat is rated at a monstrous 110 watts per channel, but I never crank it louder than halfway(not even close) The sound is magnificent. I could describe it as sweet, detailed, accurate etc but my description would pale compared to what your ears will tell you. It pains me to sell them-especially since I am so proud of the refinishing job, which actually improved on the original design-but I own several pairs of speakers, and the others of this quality are too large and heavy to ship. I have ADS and Goodmans and Fairfax speakers-a few sound as good as, but none sound better than the Martins. The grills are in excellent shape with no tears and are solidly built. One of the original Martin badges remains. The other is missing. They have nicely designed wire posts with toothed metal screwdowns that are easy to use and secure the wires tightly. Other than the missing badge they are in identical shape. The drivers and caps are excellent. The sound is superb. The veneer is smooth, even and secure. They also have brilliance controls so you can tweak the sound if you want to. It would be great if someone wanted to pick them up to save me the hassle of packing and shipping, but I realize t

Sansui SC-1100 Stereo Cassette Deck Up for your bidding consideration is this vintage Sansui Sc-1100 Stereo Cassette Deck in used vintage condition. This Sansui unit was given to me by a family member some five years ago. Who had received it in turn from the original purchaser. I have used it only a couple of times since receiving it and know little about it other than that everything appears to work—indicator lights(see photos) cassette play/ ff/ rew/ pause switches, etc. I did hook the unit up to my small shelf stereo speaker system just prior to this listing, and played a cassette tape with it for ten minutes or so. This vintage deck comes in the good aesthetic condition as viewed in the photos—just a few small normal-usage scratches and some age/spot discolorations on the metal bottom cover. The original vinyl was removed and veneered over by local professional cabinet maker. Maple with hand rubbed tung oil finish. Came out nice. Three pieces- left. Right and upper sides. The finish is still very nice on this piece and there are some areas on the top left and right sides where some of the veneer has come off but these can be taken care when you refinish. Sansui 9090 9090DB cabinet new real wood veneer
This listing is of a original Sansui 9090 wood cabinet. Stripped of the original veneer. New real walnut veneer applied, veneer purchased from Holdahl Company in 2013, from a 4' X 8' sheet. 3M 90 spray adhesive applied to the sanded cabinet after old veneer removed. 3M 90 adhesive applied to the new veneer also as per 3M's instuctions. I used a 6 inch roller to get all the bubbles out for a smooth finish. Veneer was sanded first with 220 then down to 000 steel wool. After cleaning with compressed air, wiped several times with laquer thinner and a new Terry cloth. Minnwax Natural stain was applied with 3 coats, lightly sanded between applications. I am not a wood worker. Have restored 52 Sansui stereo's since 2007. When I say restored I mean all new caps, resistors, diodes, transistors and a groud off restoration. Every solder ... morejoint replaced. Back to this cabinet or bonnet. It is not perfect, some seams are not perfectly straight on the edges. Cabinet has a few issues on the bottom edge with small dings. Used this cabinet for display for a few years. It looks perfect from two feet away. Grains match from top to the sides. This cabinet will fit a 8080 and a 8080DB. There are small differences between the cabinets. This is a original 9090/9090DB cabinet. The 9090 9090DB has a beveled front edge. The 8080/8080DB has a 90 degree flat front edge. The bottom wood strip for the 9090's are not the same for the 8080's. If you want to ask questions. Ask any time. Ruhlmann Amboyna Burl and Maple Burl Veneer Oval Coffee Table
Emile Jacques Ruhlmann(1879-1933) This is a lovely signed low oval table in Amboyna Burl and Maple Burl veneer. This is a rare design. Probably a study piece for a more important project. And it bears the recognized" A" trademark, significant of the workshop. The use of 2 different veneers is rare and uncharacteristic of Ruhlmann's style occasionally seen on commissioned work and designs for variant models or were an in-house execution not intended for the public. Most known original pieces were made of single veneer. And were rarely mixed. Such factor supports it's authenticity, since a reproduction or re-edition, if made would have selected a subject more coherent with Ruhlmann best familiar works and recognizable styles. The more robust construction of the base contrasts with its top, which is typical of Ruhlmann’s style ... moremixing lightness and fragility with invisible sturdiness. This could explain the light Amboyna against the darker maple. In 80 years it is not adventurous to assume this table was at least refinished once. It's near perfect condition states for it's impeccable care along its lifetime. Most owners of Ruhlmann's work were either collectors or from descent, and it is not exceptional to find today pieces in immaculate standing. No recorded documentation of the piece presented here is known. The signature“Ruhlmann” is stamped under the base. The value for a documented item would be much higher than an undocumented work even when its authenticity is not in question. Only 2 conference tables have been documented in oval shape. One in mahogany with a leather band on top and one in ebony Makassar with an amboyna burl base. dimensions 54" wide. 29 3/4" deep. And 16 high" Weight is approximately 55 LBs. Provenance: France. This is a fantastic antique/vintage wood desk with an oriental designed veneer and hidden drawer on the inside. All original old hardware. Lots of drawers and storage. There are some signs of distress due to aging on the left side drawer but it doesn't take away from the unique look and use of this piece. Is missing one hardware"pull" for the brace, so the brace doesn't pull out. But I've used it with one brace and I'm sure this one small piece could be replaced. The top folds out for writing. Inside there are two pulls that reveal a hidden drawer. Desk measurements are approximately 33 1/2" wide. 53" tall. The fold-out part of the desk(writing surface) is approximately 32" x 18. German Chiming Mantel Clock, nice metal face, veneer cabinet.
Attractive German Mantle Clock. Measures just under 13" long. 8 3/4" tall and about 6" deep including the crystal and back door latch. This clock will need repair to work. There is no makers mark on the back of the movement. I did not try to remove it to look for any marks on the front side. It does say. made in W. Germany" at the bottom of the face below the six O clock mark. The hands are held with a pin instead of a threaded nut. The metal face is very beautifully etched and looks great behind the 6"convex crystal, held by a brass bezel. The attractive stained veneer has some flaws, including the chipped out piece at bottom right of center. In the right hands this clock could be repaired, and then striking the hour on your mantel or shelf! Priced to sell and will be carefully packaged to facilitate safe arrival ... moreto the buyer. Bent and laminated plywood with birch veneer. Over-all streamlined shape with rounded corners and edges. Drawer pulls are recessed black rectangles in drawer fronts. The mirror measures 35 x 15 inches and the frame is about 2 inches thick. An inch shy of three feet tall folks, not a lightweight piece. Incredible! This is faux wood. Like a plastic resin. Possibly with a lamimant on the outside. Very Good Condition with some rub marks on the frame here and there. Definitely not a deal breaker. Check out my other items.
