Vintage Americana Folk Art CIGAR BAND LABEL DISH Tobacciana Antique Advertising AS IS Up for bid is a round glass cigar band folk art dish(shallow bowl) It is decorated with a collage of cigar bands that are attached to the underside of the glass. The center features a full view of a cigar band with a portrait that looks like a sailor to me. The band reads: MURAD SPANISH CIGARETTES. The remainder of the design is made from additional different cigar bands- some full view and some partial. Fabric is then used to cover over the glued on paper pieces. There are no markings on the dish. It probably dates to circa 1900 to the 1930s when this type of folk art was popular. Piece measures approx 5 3/8" across. Condition: Unfortunately the glass is damaged. There is a crack all the way across one side but the piece is secure. The fabric that ... morehas been attached holds the dish together tightly. It may be just a fracture but it could be a repair. The fabric was clearly applied a LONG time ago. It shows its own wear- but is probably not the original backing. As far as the bands themselves. Most are still fairly bright but some are faded and stained. So, condition is AS IS but still an original piece and authentic example of vintage cigar band folk art. NOTE: Cigar band folk art was popular from the late 19th century into the Depression era. The age of the glass dish would be an indicator. But I still am unsure or precise age. Shipping cost is based on package weight of over 1 lb to allow for extra careful wrapping. SHIPPING INSIDE US: We do not charge a fixed rate for shipping. The upper part is clear with no design but part of the upper glass has a bit of slag on a small area. Hard to see but you can feel it is not a smooth as the rest of the band. I didn't even notice it until I took the photo. But I've reduced the price accordingly. It is about 1 1/8" tall and in good used condition, with no chips. Cracks or repairs. Condition: The pipe has been refurbished(cleaned) inside and outside. This means the inside of the bowl has been reamed. The inside of the shank and stem have been cleaned with alcohol and the outside of the stem and bowl has been cleaned and polished. This does not mean it is pristine- it is an estate pipe.
