5 Metal Cutting Lathe Bits KEO, DoALL, TRW, NION. Double ended, Hardly Used,
This is a miscellaneous lot of 5 metal cutting lathe bits. All of them are double-ended. I will describe the bits in the order they are in the first photo starting at the bottom. The one on the bottom is the longest one and is 3 1/4" long and says TRW Hi-Speed 3/8 USA on it. The next bit in the photo is 2" long and says KEO HS#3 on it. The next one is 2" long and says NION 3 HSG 8 on it. The 4th bit in the row is 2 1/8" long and says DoALL No 4 HS Ring Seat. The smallest bit(at the top of the photo) is 1 1/4" long and doesn't have any writing on it. These bits are hardly used at all. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Simple raised self-padded leather browband and noseband with flash noseband including flash strap. See photos for details! Decent quality bridle from the late 1990s. Bought from Dover Saddlery back in the day- their medium quality bridle. Well kept, cleaned and conditioned, with plenty of life left in it. This is a standard Dressage bridle with a"bit hanger strap" made of matching good quality black leather and silver buckle that is used to hang the curb or snaffle bit to make it into a full double weymouth bridle. So you get two bridles in one! Use it as a regular snaffle dressage bridle. Or rig it up as a Double Bridle as needed. Includes a Dover Saddlery"Wide Port Curb Bit" 5" mouth. Triangular bar weymouth 5" mouth snaffle bit which is only for double bridles(not a snaffle you would use on it's own) Bit in clean. Very good condition, used maybe 1 time. No bitemarks or rough edges. Includes one set of matching black plain dressage curb or snaffle reins. 5/8" which are in very good condition EXCEPT for a 6" length on one side where mice have nibbled on the leather. It does not go through the leather and does not appear to me to affect the integrity of the reins = just surface markings. But I am not a saddle expert, so I will let you be the judge of that. Regular horse sized. Not warmblood. Silver metal buckles all work. And keepers are there. Bridle and reins use loop and hook keepers not buckles to attach to bit. Good used condition. Fully useable. On the right side of brow band, there is a small part where the stitching came out, tried to show it in the pictures. Comes with the slightly ported Weymouth bit and loose ring snaffle. Both are herm sprenger. After cleaning out my tack box. Found some stubben web reins(a little dirty from hanging out/not being used) and some Red Barn curb reins, also new. Bought the bridle new for about $350. The Weymouth for $270, and the snaffle for about $120, all from Dover a couple years ago. Completely retired the horse I used this bridle on. No returns. Lot of 2 Dressage Curb Bits for double bridle-5.5" mouthpieces
Here are two curb bits being offered together as a lot. They both measure 5.5" from the inside of the side bar on one side to the inside of the side bar on the other. One is a more gold colored metal than the other. They both are the same thickness in the mouthpiece at the sides but one has a much higher port than the other. The more silver colored bit has 5" shanks and has a curb chain attached. The other bit has 5.25" shanks and hooks but no chain. If you have a horse who needs a 5.5" curb this gives you a chance to try out slightly different bits to see what works best. Or to be able to alternate the bits from time to time.

Look closely at the photos of this lovely bridle. The stitching is immaculate and the leather including the brow band are soft and supple. It has the correct reins. 1 sewn, 1 buckle. The noseband and cavesson are not original to the piece and have roller buckles. The bits are stamped"Never Rust" The curb chain and lip strap are included, but the curb hooks themselves are of lesser quality and have some rust. This is a very nice quality bridle. 5 Show Bits and/or Bits for a Double Bridle Stamped Collectables
Thank you for viewing! This auction is a set of bit from a collection with many of the bits over 100 years old. Please note the provenance below as these bits are a piece of history and part of a great collection. These bits are completely serviceable. All of these bits are halter class show bits or as the snaffle part of a double bridle. The snaffle was purchased from Henick’s Saddlery. Columbus, Ohio in the 1960s. It is unmarked but shows no wear. There are casting flaws but the metal remains new-looking. The bit is 4.5 inches. The straight show bits are different makers. One is marked Par Silver(which is nickel) and Barnet. Barnet was a brass works but I can’t find much on this. Barnet Works was part of Birmingham which worked from the mid 1800s to the mid 1900s. Next is marked Never Rust and LeCompte. It is 4.75 inches. Never Rust is ... morenickel over brass and the middle of the bit it worn to the brass. The third bit is 5inches and looks good. I can’t read the maker on it. I can read the Silver CID and on the other end it has something before Co. but I can’t tell what it is. The last bit is illegible. It is again worn through the nickel to the brass. And is 4.75 inches. Although the bit collection is being sold. These bits are an antiques that can be used today. A short history/provenance of this particular piece: We met a man in 1960. He was born in 1885 and had worked with horses since he was a young man. He worked at Faraway Farms when the famous race horse. Man O’War lived there. He was actually given a great-grandson of Man O’War on a bet that he could clear a steeple chase course on the animal. These were the quality animals and people this man worked with. This bit was part of his legacy to my family.
