Offered here is an original(circa 1920) SNOW& NEALLEY- Bangor, Maine 3 1/4 weight, double bit, lumberjack axe. The early two bit axe shows an obvious accumulation of original patina and use, out and about in the frontier; while maintaining excellent steel and sharp edges. The vintage Snow& Nealley logging tool shows no substantial indications of extensive sharpening; with plenty of edge for further honing, upon your skill and discretion. The axe is laden with strike marks; while showing no unsightly oxidation. The handle shows obvious indications of misguided strikes, being heavily knicked and scuffed. The handle is not cracked and has ... morenot been repaired; albeit a replacement would work wonders for maximized display appeal. Here we have a 3 axe lot of single bit pole axe heads. These are vintage and one is an antique I believe. The first axe head is a approx. 3 lb axe that is made by Plumb. It is in very good condtion. The next axe is stamped 3 1/2lb. Thats the only marking on axe. It is also in very good condition. The third axe is a Coast to Coast Woodsman. This is an old axe head. It seems to be around 3lbs. This axe head has some chips in the blade edge and some mushrooming on the hammer end. Still in very useable condition. Marked along one side: TRUE TEMPER Other side marking: Made in usa 10 in. in length. 4 3/4 in. ax head blades weight: 3 lbs 8 oz. Blades have been sharpen by a file. done by the previous owner) I did a moderate clean with a wire bush to see if there was cracks or breaks to the axe. I did not find any breaks or cracks. Blades have nicks and chips to them. Surface rust and light pitting and darken area to the axe do to care and use Edges are rounded or nicked do to use. Bidding for a super good looking Crown GBA Made in Sweden 3 3/4 lb. axe. In wonderful as found unsharpened original condition. Blade hasn`t been sharpened in a long time.And not often either imo. I`ll let the new owner sharpen the blade as they may want it done a certain way. Center of blade to center of blade width is 11 1/2" Has two little nicks near a tip on one blade,but not a big deal,as when this blade is sharpened,they`ll disappear. Still has a lot of the black paint line on it. Bit of light surface rust at spots on blade as shown which will definitely clean up very well,it`ll look awesome when done. Standing straight up on a flat surface resting on the blade tips measures 36" to handle end. Very smooth handle marked Pioneer and has a beautiful patina,and not chewed up from misses under the blade either,this is a nice one ... morefolks. A very nice axe head with handle, don`t miss it! Warren Axe & Tool Co. William Sager Peavey, Cant Hook , Logging, River Drives
This Vintage Warren Axe& Tool Co. Peavey. Cant Hook was made in Warren Pennsylvania. William Sager founded the company in 1893. It remained in business until 1950 when it was sold to Collins& Co. Collins continued to make tools at the plant until 1958 when they sold the equipment and property. It iis 58" long with a 44" wood handle and from the collar to the tip of the pike is 14" The pike 4 sided and is is 1 1/2" in diameter at the collar connection. The pike is 4 1/2" long. The pike fits tightly as does the handle. The hook is 11" long from the bolt connection to the point. The point is 3 1/2" long. The tapered handle is 2 1/2" in diameter where it connects to the collar and has a few little scratches and dents typical of a used wooden handled logging tool. There is a screw holding it on that ... moreis shown in the photos. The collar has the number 202 in raised lettering and is shown. I believe the handle is the original but can't be 100% sure. I bought this in Bovey Minnesota 4 years ago. I put a coat of Boiled Linseed oil on it at that time. It has a great look. I suggest this remain retired in a Logging Collection. These are usually found weather damaged. Very worn and rusty with cracked wood and loose handle and pike. and this one isn't. It is a fine example of great quality and care in using it without abusing it. From a smoke free home. Recycled shipping materials used, no returns. Nice Husqvarna Splitting maul/ax up for bids. USED condition, handle about 32 inches in length from top of head to bottom, comes with leather sheath to cover head,lanyard hole in bottom, factory drilled. This maul/ax is in pretty clean shape, didn't see much use, had the local knife man, sharpen and polish/hone the edge, killer sharp edge, paper slicing, generally means you can shave! Hickory handle has been cleaned and lightly coated with liquid Ballistol. Roughly a 6 1/2 lb. head. Not to light not to heavy, Stamped- Hand Forged made in Sweden. Quality piece.
