The opening for the pole measues 2 1/2 inches across. And almost 8 inches in circumference. There is still a bit of wood where the pole inserts, so the owner will have to dig it out. It is in super great shape, and can still be used as the tool it was meant to be or displayed as a tool that was used in the woods during the days that men cut down trees by hand and dragged them to the river to float down to the mill. Fresh from an upstate New York estate barn! This offering is for some primitive hand forged logging or ice tongs. These antique tongs have great appeal for decorating. But due to their solid construction, they are still serviceable if one wanted to take them out in the woods for harvesting wood for the camp stove or fireplace. The tongs measure 11 1/4" longs, have a chain link connection, a hand made center rivet and have a maximum opening of 9 3/4" This is a wonderful size for decorating- not so big as to be too heavy for your wall or ceiling. On the other hand, this is a great size for gripping the stove size pieces of wood. The tongs are in excellent condition, heavily made and with a lot of that hand forged appeal. Surface rust makes them brown- as expected.

SWEET antique log rolling hook, for pole mounting, steel body and hook, AWESOME
This old log rolling hook is up for sale. It has a great classic look to it. And probably from the 30's. If you mount this on a long and strong pole, you can hook it into a log and leverage it over. More than on land, they were often used in the water with floating log barges to move logs and roll logs. It's marked from Michigan, and made by the Logging Tool Co. It has some wear, some minor dents, and a lot of miles on it, but it's beautiful to me. Overall length is 15" and the weight is about 3 pounds 12 ounces. I've sold quite a few of these, as you would find more of these here in Oregon than anywhere else. Make a good offer, and you could add this to your logging gear collection. CLASSIC antique log rolling hook, all steel, circa 40's, Michigan made, SWEET!!!
This antique log rolling tool is up for sale. Any reasonable offer will be considered. This piece is very old. And I'm guessing it's from the 40's. It says right on the piece that it's made in Michigan, by the Logging Tool Co. When you connect this on the end of a pole, you can use the leverage needed to roll over a floating log. These were used by millions of old loggers back in the day. Now they are getting harder and harder to find. Total size is 15" x 8" closed) 18" x 8" open) and the weight is 3 lb, 4 oz. This little hook is in excellent condition and still retains its red paint. 15 1/2" I have never seen one any where close to this small. So I am assuming may be a salesman sample. VERY OLD 29 in. SWAMP HOOK PAIR - LOG TONGS - BLACKSMITH FORGED ANTIQUE LOGGING
old pair of Swamp Hooks-or could be light Logging or Hoist Tongs-appear to be hand forged from 1/2 by 2 1/2 in. bar stock iron- each hook measures about 21 by 29 in. tall- some wear: overall rust. Tarnish and pitting-still likely functional. Free Local pick-up is an option. Out-of-country buyers are welcome. But overseas shipping is more. Thank you for visiting our site.
