RARE 12" Djos Increment Tree Borer, Extremely Fine Quality, Pristine Condition
Purchased recently at an estate sale of a wealthy wood craftsman. Sells new for about $300. Extremely fine quality tool that appears to have only been used a couple times. Update* Brought the tool to work for show-and-tell and a co-worker with a master's degree in forestry confirmed the quality and condition was excellent and better than the one he owns. He has lots of experience with this tool including sharpening them. Please compare the only other increment borer for sale on ebay which costs $195 to this one. The difference in quality and durability is obvious to the layman. I am not sure of age but the same box that this tool came in also had a carpenter's hammer dated 1943. Just researched Djos and found a PDF article on treeringsociety.org dated 2003 about increment borers which mentions Haglof and goes on to say. High-quality ... moreincrement borers were once manufactured in Sweden by two companies, Djos and Sandvik, neither of which today produce borers. The $300 borer I referred to is"Djos style" sold by Sorbus and is not the same quality. This borer has no equal in the retail marketplace. It takes up no space and I don't need the money so buy it now before I raise the price again. There is so little demand for this tool that no manufacturer will ever produce a product of equal quality again.
