This is a Leach Company in Oshkosh. Wisconsin logging roller. It is also called a Cant Hook and it is also called a Peavy Hook. This is a model M 15. I went on the web site and looked an they had these tools running all the way up to#14. It was about $168.00. This one has a new nut and bolt replacing the old. I found this in a garage sale. I have been in the buying and selling business for years, I am 65 myself and this was the first time I had the opportunity to by this tool. I could not pass it up. Then I realized that I don't intend to ever do any log rolling, so here you go. The guy who sold it to me was older than I and had a lot of specialized tools. He said that the wood may not look that good but this thing had a lot of log rolling left in it. But due to their solid construction, they are still serviceable if one wanted to take them out in the woods for harvesting wood for the camp stove or fireplace. The tongs measure 11 1/4" longs, have a chain link connection, a hand made center rivet and have a maximum opening of 9 3/4" This is a wonderful size for decorating- not so big as to be too heavy for your wall or ceiling. Marked along one side: TRUE TEMPER Other side marking: Made in usa 10 in. in length. 4 3/4 in. ax head blades weight: 3 lbs 8 oz. Blades have been sharpen by a file. done by the previous owner) I did a moderate clean with a wire bush to see if there was cracks or breaks to the axe. I did not find any breaks or cracks. Antique pole climbing spikes, VERY COOL, strap on, logging gear or electric gear
This vintage pair of climbing spikes is up for bid. There is no reserve on this bidding. So good luck. Back in the day, electricians and loggers would use these strap-on spikes for pole climbing purposes. The body of them is made out of steel, heated and shaped and fashioned to have the right angle for the spike to bite into the pole as they made their ascent. The straps are very sturdy leather, with a large buckle. These have to be put on tightly, because your life would depend on them. I believe these are from the 60's or 70's. Nowadays they have equipment that can raise a man up and down, but loggers may still use similar rigging. 16.5" tall, and the pairs weighs about 3 pounds.
