Antique/Vintage Math Rules, 0 to 9 FRAMED Letterpress wood printing blocks
A very precise high quality custom piece to gift or keep or use as a motivational tool in the classroom. Printing in the 1800's and early 1900's were done with hand picked and placed wooden printing blocks. These are 100 +/ year old large 4" tall wooden(maple) numbers. With EXCEPTIONAL patina unique to each block because of the inks used and the type of wood that the blocks are made of. The blocks have been polished on the letter face to a semi gloss shine, are flat black around the letter, and the rest of the surfaces are buffed to a satin finish. These fit precisely into a custom made exotic hardwood frame. Without the bright light. The frame looks black instead of brown. WENGE is like a cross between ebony for the natural black coloration and oak for the open wood grain. The outside dimensions are 18-15/16" x 7-5/8" ... morex 7/8" deep. The inside dimensions are 15-1/4" x 4" This piece will sit upright on a flat surface. It can also be a wall hanging. I will provide hanging hardware if you want to display it this way. The blocks are removable when the humidity is low. This contains the numbers 0- 9. These blocks are turn of the century and made by the Hamilton Manufacturing Company of Two Rivers. Wisconsin. Vintage American Legion& Kiwanis International Printing Blocks. Stamps Offered here is a pair of vintage printing blocks. The wooden blocks have a copper printing stamp. The American legion block measures about 1/2” across and the Kiwanis block measures about 1/2” across. They are in very good condition. Check out my! Most items I offer are vintage. Antique/Vintage PI to 82 decimal places Letterpress wood printing blocks
A one-of-a-kind custom piece using a vintage brass printers' tray. Printing in the 1800's and early 1900's were done with hand picked and placed wooden printing blocks. These are 100 +/ year old numbers and letters. With great patina unique to each block because of the inks used and the type of wood that the blocks are made of. The blocks have been polished on the letter face to a semi gloss shine, are flat black around the letter, and the rest of the surfaces are buffed to a satin finish. Two of the 9's have some major dents due to printing mishaps. To me this adds to the story that these old pieces tell. However, if you prefer, I can repair these pieces. just let me know. Alphabet in antique letters We have found these characters in a french letterpress shop. Which started in 1910. We think. That these letters should be from around 1930. They have a nice patina and also traces of wear. As the letters had a long life of printing a lot of interesting posters, etc. The letters can be used for exemple as decoration. The letters are loose and not joined in any way. The letter"W" ist missing. Vintage Metal Copper & Wood Decorative Christmas Winter Theme Printing Blocks
Up for auction is a lot of Vintage Christmas or Winter Theme Printing Blocks. The lot contains 4 pieces which are metal(some I think are copper) attached to a wooden block. The longest has 3 pieces of metal attached and reads"Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" It also has a small elf with what appears to be holly leaves around him. It also reads"J. B. Lippincott Company" some tiny script writing that I can't make out. I did some research and found that J. B. Lippincott& Co. was an American Publishing House founded in Philadelphia. PA in 1836 by Joshua Ballinger Lippincott and was incorporated in 1885 as J. B. Lippencott Company. It measures approx. 13" by 1 1/2" The second is a reddish colored wooded block with what I believe is a copper& metal Star and Ornament attached. The Ornament appears to ... morehave a figure carved in the center. Possibly an elf. It measures approx. 6 3/4" by 2 1/2" The next is a blue or green wooden block with an Ornament made of copper and metal with an elf in the center. It measures approx. 2 1/4" by 1 3/8" The last is a wooden block with 1 piece of metal which depicts 3 elves. It measures approx. 6 1/4" by 2 3/4" These blocks are all in good used condition. Show n ormal wear and ink stained from use. From an old print shop and not used in many years. In great condition for age. There is no manufacturer identified on the blocks. Three of the punctuations are 6 1/2 tall x 1/2" wide. Two are 5" tall and the two letters are 5" tall. Vary from 3/8 to 1/2 to 3/4 wide. One letter has been cut into a"C" and the other is a cut"O" or"C" don't know what they used this for. You receive the exact pieces seen in the pictures. Ships US only.

Each with a sprig of holly I purchased hundreds of these from print shops that were closing their letterpress departments somewhere in the 1970's& 1980's I believe these were mostly made and used somewhere between the 1950's and 1970's From the 1970's most print shops were starting to close their letterpress departments. These generally are much larger than the ones that I have listed previously. These were use to print large images as part of the finished printed page.
