Unique Antique Small Enclosed Wood Box for Ink Print Type
I don't know anything about this. I bought it awhile ago because I thought it was interesting and unique. It measures 7 2/3" x 7 1/2" x 2 1/8" It looks like they may have used a couple different kind of woods tpo put this together and it is doevtailed along the corners. The bottom is a composite. Inside are small sections(just over 1/2" square) marked with the letters of the alphabet and numbers. That section is permanently attached to the box. Someone wrote"New Type" in red on the inside cover. In the small sqaures is what I am assuming is dried up ink. It actually comes out if you use tweezers i.e. it isn't stained into the wood, its more of a gummy texture. The front latch is missing the lttle flap that comes down and attaches. Cost of shipping will vary by your location as this weighs just over 2 ... morepounds. If you live on the east coast it might be cheaper for me to mail this flat rate at $12.35. It is 22 inches wide. 19.5 inches from front to back and 1-1/2 inches high. It has 82 slots that are varied in size. They are all approx. 3/4 inch deep. The center plank of the drawer has t wo imprints. One is what looks to me like"New Departure Patented" and the other says" Hamilton MFG Co. Two Rivers. Wis.
