VINTAGE WOODEN LETTERPRESS TYPE CASE/ PRINTERS DRAWER Antique wooden type case originally used to store printers letterpress type. Measures approximately 82.5cm x 36cm x 3.5cm deep(32.5" x 14" x 1.5" The tray is divided into three sections. Each having various sized compartments. There are 95 compartments in total with brass detailing at each compartment intersection(see photos) Even the original paper lining in the compartments is still in tact. It also has the original metal handle and label holder. I have polished it up to give the wood a nice all over finish. I t is extremely sturdy and well made with no sign of damages or cracks. Kelsey Excelsior Model C 3x5 Letterpress Press fully restored & 100% print ready
My best guess on the original manufacture date of this press is pre-1928. This press has been completely disassembled; the only exception to this is the ink table operating dog was not removed from the carriage during the restoration process. All painted parts were stripped down to the metal and re-finished with 2 coats of primer then 2 coats of color. The raised type in the castings have been accented with black paint. All non-painted parts(pivoting rods. Ink arms, etc. were cleaned thoroughly. The fasteners in the platen back have been replaced with stainless steel cap head screws. Nuts& washers. The set screws in the chase have been replaced with new stainless steel hex drive screws. The chase latch spring is new. A custom made extension has been added to the chase latch to prevent the spring from damaging the finish on the press. ... moreThe roller hook springs, retaining washer and pins are all new and made of stainless steel. I fabricated new grippers for this press. This press has a new ink table machined out of plate steel. The platen has been balanced to the chase bed with.030" packing under the tympan and is included with the press. The additional sheets of press packing included will allow you to change the packing under the tympan to adjust the print impression height as you change stock caliper. This is much easier than re-balancing the platen each time you change stock caliper. The press is currently packed to print on.012" stock. For example. If you wanted to print on.007" stock, you would add a sheet of.005" packing under the tympan. As with any press, the condition of your type and blocks and the uniformity of the type height will ultimately determine the quality of the printed image. The type used to print the proof card is new. Rollers have been recovered with new rubber on original journal. Trucks are also original. Antique Kelsey Excelsior 3 x 5 Inch Letterpress Printing Press + Bonus Typeset
Up for auction is a really cool antique 3 x 5 inch Excelsior printing press by Kelsey& Co. of Meriden. Connecticut. Also a set of very fancy font type in a wooden type set box. One picture illustrates how ornate the lettering is, it reminds me of calligraphy. I don't know the letter model of the press for sure so I will describe everything in detail in conjunction with the many pictures I provided. It weighs 24 pounds and is made of cast iron with a black coat of paint and some painted gold lettering as well as a couple gold designs. The base measures 11.5 inches, the entire press is roughly 20 inches long including the protruding part behind the plate and the plate diameter is 5 7/8 inches. The patent date states is was patented April, 6, 1893. The'9' digit is hard to make it and I can't be positive that t is a'9' ... morebut I believe so)Following that there are patent numbers for England, France and Germany. The pictures should include enough angles so you can see all of the hardware. The press opens and closes like it should. But the rectangle that should hold the type tilts slightly and the two rectangles aren't perfectly parallel when the handle is pressed down and they separate. However, when you close the press they eventually become flush but it doesn't make initial square contact. It appears something just needs to be tightened or adjusted(pictures 4& 5) The sections where the rollers should be pivot down over the plate when the handle is pushed down. The plate spins freely when I move it but operating the press doesn't rotate it automatically. Condition: This was stored in a barn for decades. It needs a little TLC. You can plainly see there is plenty of surface rust but the black coat of paint over the cast iron is largely intact. The rust isn't deep or pitted, just on the surface. Some of the gold lettering and detail has worn or rusted over, but again it is largely intact. Cosmetically the iron is in wonderful condition and the mechanics seem to be functioning.

Antique vintage letterpress C&M printing press cast iron stamp collectors' item
Antique Vintage Original cast iron C@M(Curtis& Mitchell) letterpress printing press. Size 10" in length. Base is 5" x 7" 4 1/2" in height, about 8 pounds in weight. This rare press is probably dated to about 1890. It has the original dark green paint finish(looks more like black in photographs) I am not quite sure how it works as a press because there is no rollers or a chase. If you are a collector of printing history this is a real find. I can't imagine many of these things survive the test of time. Miehle V-50 Vertical Misc. Press Parts: Dowels, Springs Letterpress Good to VG
You may have noticed my other Miehle V-50 Vertical press parts sales. I have a Heidelberg KSBA. And it works a LOT better than the vertical. I even have some tricks to let me get closer to the gripper with a numbering machine, perf, and score, so I am disassembling the V-50 and selling it part by part. Let me know if you have any specific part you want me to list, and I'll endeavor to list it ASAP. These are various parts that got separated from their original assemblies. The only item I can readily identify is part#22294. The Guard Hinge Stud. I let a less than careful assistant"help" me disassemble the press, and this is the result. More"extra" parts to come. The press was completely refurbished around 1980 and was used pretty much continuously for the next 15 years. When I got the KSBA. The vertical was then used ... moreonly sporadically until about 2003. After 2003, it was used virtually never, maybe 2- 5 jobs a year. There is some grease. Oil, and dried ink on the associated assemblies, but I cleaned them enough for you to see what good condition they are in. I lubricate my equipment very well because I am penurious. Oil is cheaper than repairs. If you want to see any other view, let me know and I will endeavor to post it asap. Insurance will be included only if you demand and pay $2.00 for it. Sigwalt #11 Letterpress printing press - restored & 100% print ready
This press has been completely disassembled. All painted parts were stripped down to the metal and re-finished with 2 coats of primer then 2 coats of color and a clear coat. All non-painted parts(pivoting rods. Ink arms, etc. were cleaned thoroughly. The fasteners in platen back and chase have been replaced with new stainless steel hex drive screws. The platen has been balanced to the chase bed with.040" packing under the tympan and is included with the press. The additional sheets of press packing included will allow you to change the packing under the tympan to adjust the print impression height as you change stock caliper. This is much easier than re-balancing the platen each time you change stock caliper. The press is currently packed to print on.012" stock. For example. If you wanted to print on.007" stock, you would add ... morea sheet of.005" packing under the tympan. As with any press, the condition of your type and blocks and the uniformity of the type height will ultimately determine the quality of the printed image. The type used to print the proof card was not new. Rollers& trucks are new. Rollers have only been used on this press(to verify press balance and roller& truck quality) to print the card in the photo gallery for this item. The press has been secured with stainless steel fasteners to a base made of oak which is stained& coated with a satin polyurethane. Rubber feet are fastened to each corner of the underside of the base so the press& base will not'walk' when printing. Base is long enough so that the back of the press will not lift off when you push the press on impression. Letterpress 23" x 35" Barely Used Cylinder Press Steel Die Cut Jacket
This is a letterpress cylinder die cut jacket apparently for a 23" 58.4 cm) x 35" 88.9 cm) cylinder press made by Bar-Plate. A company that makes after market die cut jackets. It has a virtually untouched canvas tie down. What press it was made for is unknown, but I have used jackets exactly like this for Heidelberg cylinder presses. It has been sitting in an ex-wife's garage after the husband's business was disbanded and she has lost track of her husbands ex-employees, so there is no way to find out exactly what type of press it was for. Apparently, it was only used for two jobs before the business closed. There are a few small die cut circles on the otherwise pristine surface. There is also the ghost image of a kiss cutting job that has not made any permanent damage. Otherwise, the jacket is in brand new condition. The ... morecylinder that it was designed for is about 14" in diameter. My estimation that the sheet size of the press is just that: an estimate. The jacket actual goes for 25" but I haven't heard of a 25" x 35" press. The gripper edge has ten 1/4" diameter holes drilled in it. The end ones are 1 1/4" 31mm) from each end and then about 3 5/8" weak) If you want to see any other view. Let me know and I will endeavor to post it asap. I usually ship USPS for light cartons.
