Antique vintage letterpress C&M printing press cast iron stamp collectors' item
Antique Vintage Original cast iron C@M(Curtis& Mitchell) letterpress printing press. Size 10" in length. Base is 5" x 7" 4 1/2" in height, about 8 pounds in weight. This rare press is probably dated to about 1890. It has the original dark green paint finish(looks more like black in photographs) I am not quite sure how it works as a press because there is no rollers or a chase. If you are a collector of printing history this is a real find. I can't imagine many of these things survive the test of time. Rouse 6-Inch Job Stick, Composing Stick
This is a 6-inch(actually. 5-3/4-inches in total length, although typically referred to as a 6-inch stick) composing stick. This is a job stick, manufactured by the Rouse Manufacturing Company of Chicago. The stick has the standard lever under the clamp for adjusting to agate(half-pica) measurements. While the serial numbers on the stick and knee do not match, we have checked the stick for accuracy, and it is as accurate as sticks with matching numbers. This stick has"HHS43" stamped on the front of the body of the stick, and"Huntington East High" scratched on the back of the stick. The stick is in good working order, with some rust, which does not affect the operation of the stick.
