Some folks can pull it off, but I'm not always as crafty as I would like to be. The actual printing area is lead. Tacked onto a wooden block with tiny nails. 1917 Letter Press Printer's Block, NYIDD, 1st Military School for Deaf in World
1917 letter press printer's block for the New York Institution for the Instruction of the Deaf& Dumb. The first military school for the deaf in the world, chartered in 1817 and opened in 1818. The side and back are dated with a stamp: February 28. 1917, so this was obviously used for something to do with a 100th anniversary commemoration. The address was Fort Washington Ave& West 163rd Street in NYC. Near Riverside Drive. The top of the block has a photo of students(possibly some faculty) All dressed in uniforms.
