0-9 numbers in antique characters We have found these vintage characters in a french letterpress shop. Which started in 1910. We think. That these letters should be from around 1930. They have a nice patina and also traces of wear. As the letters had a long life of printing a lot of interesting posters, etc. The letters can be used for exemple as decoration. General Electric Copper Print Block 1930s Vintage Old Logo Letterpress This print block was used to create advertising materials for the General Electric Corporation and features one of the world’s most recognizable logos. The script letters GE reversed in a round logo surrounded by electric“waves” I really admire GE for not changing this even though it has style from th early part of the 20th century. I would date this block to the 1950s. And possibly earlier. The circular shape of the General Electric logo has a timeless quality. While the inner activity near the perimeter of the circle allows a sense of motion and fluidity fortified by the sophisticated handling of the interconnected initials. Resonant of the Art Nouveau era from which it borrows stylistically. The General Electric logo is featured on packaging and other applications, ... moreyielding a very typographical attribute. Cleaned Font of 12 Point Brush (ATF #689) Vintage Letterpress Lead Metal Type
This auction is for a hand cleaned font of 12 Point Brush letterpress lead type(ATF#689) which includes Caps. Lower Case, Numbers and Punctuation, cast by American Type Founders. Type has not been used by me, and had been used only fairly lightly by the previous owner. Just about all of the font cleaned up very well. A few pieces remained dark, although I can assure they are clean. See photos for more visual information. Photo#4 is a reverse(mirror) image for ease in identifying the individual characters. Please note that I inserted a missing capital"R" in front of the lower case r's after finding it. Count should be correct. Note also that each of the script letters has a standard letter imbedded on the face corresponding to it in case of confusion in reading the typeface.
