Here is a fantastic Columbia Graphophone from my collection. It is stamped type BX also referred to as the Eagle because it could be purchased with a 10 dollar"Eagle" gold coin. It is harder to find than the type B. It is in great shape and runs fine. I purchased this from the original owners family about 10 years ago. The only thing I have done to the machine since I have owned it was to clean it. The nickel plating on all parts is in great shape. It displays all name badges and patent numbers. The motor winds up and runs strong. The stylus in the reproducer is in great shape. The key is original to the machine according to the last owner. The 11 inch horn is a 25 year old reproduction that is in great shape. The wooden motor board is in great shape. The lid is also in great shape displaying both labels. Item Condition: the graphophone has not been cleaned, it has normal signs of handling, there is a light patina over metal finish, band that winds cylinder is missing(we used a rubber band to get it working) overall this instrument is in good condition for age, it could use a little tlc but it still works and is complete with all the original fixtures. This was a"down-to-business" sort of phonograph with no ornate case. That being said. This model is running strong and sounds great! Equipped with a very nice horn, it is a very nice looking machine as well! The condition of the nickel works is excellent showing almost no significant wear and no missing parts. Included is the original winding key. The wood platform to which the works are mounted shows light restoration, mostly isolated to one side near the cover slot. The cover is in excellent condition wearing an excellent original decal. The finish is very nice and there is virtually no damage to the delicate veneer. The handle is present ... moreand original. This auction includes a Columbia Graphophone Type Q Patent date Aug. 20. 1901 with orginal key in working order, wooden case is NOT orginal, looks homemade but very nice. Also includes 2 sound horns, one 10" long. One 18" long marked Accepted Standard Amplifying Horn#931315. This one has a few dents in the larger end(see photo) The longer one makes the sound louder. Also included are 31 cylinders in their orginal cardboard sleeves. With 3 empty sleeves. 25 are marked Columbia Phonograph Co. 7 are marked Edison Gold Moulded Record, 2 marked Oxford Record, two minute. The cylinders are not matched to the sleeves. The Cylinders are in various conditions from in excellant to poor. A good share of them have a white substance on them. I have not tried to clean them I will leave ... morethat to you. This is a seldom seen or offered for sale Columbia Graphophone Type C First Style phonograph. Also known as the"Universal" Serial#79160. First marketed in 1897. It has a large 3 spring motor which supposedly could play at 120 rpm for an hour. Long play 6" mandrel. Can play both 4" or 6" long cylinders. Marketed and used both in the home and business. Has the original#2 reproducer which has been rebuilt. My personal observation is this reproducer seems small and undersize for pushing sound out a 30" horn. I am offering the original brass 30" horn in a separate ebay auction this week) In my picture#6(top view of bedplate) you will notice a unique feature on the right side and front of the mandrel frame of this model phonograph. There is a gutta percha 2 button switch which allows the operator to pause the ... morecylinder while the motor keeps running. The drive gear is in very good condition(pictured) The crank is the original knock off type crank and has a small sliver of wood missing off the handle but not bad. The cabinet is the original light oak finish and is in excellent condition as shown. The cabinet measures 16 1/4" that's right I measured it twice) x 10" deep x 13 1/2" tall(not including the handle) To access and service the motor a hinged panel drops down in front as shown. You can see the original intact"directions" label on the interior of this panel in my pictures. Original decals. The interior flower decals do show some wear. This phonograph winds up and plays just fine. Note: The cylinder record cabinet that this phonograph is sitting on is offered for sale this week on ebay. Nazzi- antiquaire- Rue de Rollebeek 36- 1000 Bruxelles BELGIUM sells: Extremely Rare Anglo Saxon Bronze Zoomorphic Bowl Mount- Wolf head type Date: Circa: AD 7th Century AD Size and weight: 5.5cm x 4.6cm@ 55.5 grams Description: This type of early Anglo Saxon material is extremely rare indeed. Here a zoomorphic hanging bowl mount. The mount has been created in the form of a wolf head. There are two retention holes seen in place of the wolfs eyes with iron oxide deposits visible. And it is thought that the hanging iron chain was retained here with the wolf snout projecting beyond. The ears of the wolf are represented by over-sized decorated lug projections to the upper mount. The mount is further decorated with incised line and punched dot decoration throughout. The rear of the mount is concave and it is suggested that this allowed ... morethe mount to rest against and clasp the bowl. It is likely that there would have been three such mounts to hang a bowl effectively. These mounts were design to be portable items The mount has a deep green and well balanced copper oxide patina. There is a small lose of the bronze to the lower crescent clasp in antiquity. Provenance: The mount was recovered close to Alderburgh in Suffolk and is in very fine stable condition. Ref: Mills. N. I found this with a Peavey neck and a mismatched pickguard attached. It might be Peavey. But I'm not certain. It's a plywood, 1-5/8" thick strat-type electric guitar body. It looks like the body cavity was modified somewhat to accommodate I-don't-know-what. It was set up as an HSS model. Also included is a white back tremolo cover and a tremolo bridge assembly but no whammy bar. It's in very good overall shape with no dings or damage to report. The neck pocket is slightly wider than 2-3/16" and is 3" long. 3/4" deep. The color is sort of an aged white- if you look at the picks that show where the pickguard and neckplate were, you can see the degree of discoloration. This is a used guitar part and is sold as is.
