Own a piece of printing history. This is a printers hand set type letter. It is capital O. This large letter was probably used on posters. As it is three inches tall by two inches wide by one inch deep. Old ink stains add to the patina of the block. We estimate that these were made in the 1930's or 1940's but could be much earlier or even a little later. The shop we got them from closed in the 1980's Note:These letters are reverse in order to print correctly. Combine with other letters we are selling to make a personalized statement. This is an original collage. I made it by arranging in a unique design approximately 150 vintage printers blocks letterpress type. The piece has a capitalistic theme. The various dollar signs. Ampersands, and question marks printers blocks have been laid out in paths leading to- perhaps from- the sole cents symbol. and the phrase 23 skidoo. This piece measures 18" by 18" I have not glued the type to the tray so that I may rearrange the printers blocks when I am so inclined.
